Hi All,

I've just been having a browse around Gems website and spotted this Paraiba Tourmaline ring. Code UAO9222 which has fallen into my basket awaiting checkout:eek:

Before i actually go to checkout, would anyone like to give me any advise please? Value for money etc. Any advise very much appreciated, also any comments from "owners" of PT. TYIA.

Looks pretty from the pic Tabs, hard to say if it's good value when you don't give a price! lol...
Fairly small stone IMO, but if it's as vibrant as the pic (ie pic isn't enhanced...) then you will notice it.
I just went mad and bought a very expensive paraiba from an eBay seller I've used before... I hope it's worth it when it arrives!!!

Oooops`! Doh me! It fell into my basket for £127! I didnt think that was a bad price, admittedly the stone isn't huge, but after all it is PT!

Right, I've just had a further browse and also spotted this :- Paraiba Tourmaline pendant Code UQO3436 priced at £98.97 ( i remembered this time) so have sneaked that one into basket too, altho it will probably be an "either or" decision. The pendant appears to be double the carat weight too. Opinions pls? TYIA (again)

lol Tabs, you on a mission???
Another lovely piece - and a much more bargainous price, though I think you would be more likely to decide by colour. The ring is your more traditional (and I believe more valuable) blue/green neon, while the pendant is the less popular and less pricey green. Both look fab, but my own preference is for the blue/green and if it was my money, the ring would be more likely to be my choice.

I think it may be worth watching the showcase this evening at 8 &10pm as it is paraiba under £200 then you will get a better idea of the colour, as PQ said the web pics are enhanced!

Thanks guys for all your comments :) I think some thought may have to go into this.

PQ, Not so much on a mission hun, but i've long hankered after a "bit of PT"- albeit at the right price! I was just having a browse on their website and saw those two within my price range. I'll keep a look out in the showcase tonight, but my instinct says that because its a specialised hour prices will stay up! Much as i wouldn't complain, the £200+ price bracket might push both my luck and OH's wallet! :19:

I'll post back up as and when i make a decision. Thanks again all :)

Hiya Tabs - have just caught up with this thread.

Ok - first the bad news - both of those photos have been colour enhanced. The PTs are highly unlikely to look like that when you get them home. Did you look at the video before putting in your basket? Once they're in your basket, the video disappears for some reason (drives me POTTY). If you dump them from your basket, the video will appear again but then you have to put them back in your basket blah blah blah! Bear in mind that in the videos (with PT) they seem to use a VERY strong white light and even though the colour will appear washed out, it's probably more representative than the bl**dy awful photos they're now using.

I would second and third all the suggestions that you watch the specialised hours. For £200 you may get a small piece of nicely saturated PT but you really need to see the colour on the telly.

Good luck in your task! Nice neon PT is getting increasingly hard to find as Fluff has said. The nicest piece I've seen recently was bought by KB from TJC but was quite pricey compared to prices we paid "in the olden days"!!! Still she got herself a lovely piece so it may be worth phoning them to see if they have anything in your price range. If not, I'll keep an eye out for you.

Thanks again guys.

Meesh, I knew you would be along soon with your invaluable advice...always muchly appreciated by me :). I don't think i did look at the video links to be honest, i may dump them out and have a look once they are out tho. I will try to watch the hour at 8pm, but knowing my house things wont run to plan.

I'll keep you all informed how things go :)

Hi Tabs,

Have just seen your ring on Gems at £109 and it made no sales. It was very watery, pale and not in the least interesting.

Love

Hi Argey, Thanks for letting me know. I didnt catch the full hour so am not 100% if it was the same one or not. I did see a lovely one that caught my eye thats now in my basket and under consideration :)

Tabs, I really hate to burst your bubble but I have sent for sooo many PT rings in the last 12 months or so and they've all gone back. They were all pale and washed out (more like pale blue topaz or aquamarine) and most of them had huge windows.

Maybe you'll be lucky and get a really nice one .... I hope so but I have feeling you may be very disappointed. Sorry!

Sorry if i sound really stupid, but can anyone tell me what a window in a gemstone is? i keep reading comments that a stone had a window, but i have no idea what that means
