I put this in my basket last night because i love it and think its a beautiful combination, but i love it mostly because the Paraiba is from BRAZIL
http://www.gemstv.co.uk/Shop/productDataSheet.jsp?productid=UYJ1362&menuselection=0
it was £147 but the same design without the Paraiba and Ruby instead was only £77
http://www.gemstv.co.uk/shop-detail.jsp?product=UMH5963&category=preweb&colourScheme=2
so i'm paing £77 for 0.09 points of Pariba but then it is from Brazil and i know how very expensive that is!
I need your honest opinions and help MTIA.

Hi GC,

I saw that hour too.

I didn't like the ring done with rubies, they looked poor and the ring had a brash look about it, but the PT, although the same design, looked 100 times better IMO. I had my eye on it and would have gone to £100. As to its actual value for money I really have no idea, but I'm sure lovely Meeshoo will be along to lend a hand.

With Brazilian Paraiba, there are so few opportunities to get it. I already have some from when it first appeared on Gems TV and am so glad I did. It is, to me, like having Russian Alexandrite or Padparadcha Sapphire...you know that it is the original. If that is important to you then I say...go for it, Argey! I think the price is good with the 10% discount and would be very surprised if you could get it for less. It's such an unusual combination as well, I've never seen paraiba with opal before and I think it works well. Go on, you know you want to...

Brazilian Paraiba pieces are few and far between - so to find one where you actually love the design as well isn't going to happen very often! From that point of view it must be worth getting I should think.

The price seems fair but I don't know enough about Paraiba prices to say whether it's good or not, sorry.

Thank you for your replies i have a 0.70ct 7 stone Brazilian Parabia ring from the Judy Mayfield collection and i adore it which is i was drawn to this ring, just don't want to pay over the odds for it lol

Ooops, sorry, Gemcherub...I'm trying to persuade Argey to buy your ring! I meant you in my post :8:, silly me.

It's a very attractive ring - I think the paraibas look lovely with the opals (they look more like jelly opals in the link!) and I bet it would make you smile every time you looked at it. It might depend, in the end, on the opals - if they're no good then you'd never wear it and it wouldn't matter how great the paraiba was. And the paraibas still need to do their special schiller thing, however big or small they are. If they do that, then for me the difference in price would be worth it. I'd definitely want to see it irl.

I haven't a clue whether it's good value or not (sorry) but I think it's a very pretty ring and the PT being from Brazil is an added bonus so, yeh, use the discount code and go for it! :D

I sent a Brazilian Paraiba Tourmaline ring back to Gems 3 years ago because I, stoopidly, thought the stones were too small. What an idiot I was and I still regret it  .... and it was only £75!! I was sooo ignorant about gemstones in those days!

:11: what:11::11: Fairies what is going on? i remember a few years ago a Lady emailing the studio asking for wedding bands and almost being laughed at by the presenter saying "the clue is in the name GEMS TV as there are no gems in wedding bands its not something we would look at making!" o'h how things change:33:

No Argey i decided that if i was taking so much time thinking about it then it just wasn't for me, if i really love something i check it out immediately so the fact that i didn't kind of made my mind up for me!

That's a relief 'cos I saw it go for £119 on G2 a little while ago. If you'd bought it I'd have had to say something like "good for you" and kept schtum - lol.

Good decision Gemdreamer.

Honestly, for PT's of that size, origin really is no consequence because the size is just too small. Even if they were the best quality/colour they're still not likely to be mega bucks.

I've seen some phenomenal Brazilian PT and have been lucky enough to see screaming NEON examples that have wonderful clarity. Now those are the ones that WILL attract a premium but are usually over 1ct. Once you get into the 1ct and above territory, (sometimes smaller for exceptional gemstones) origin, colour, clarity etc., DOES make a difference.

Argh, the one in my basket was £174 :(
Anyone know if the personal shopper service is giving decent prices these days? I'm tempted to dump it and find out.

Oh PQ that's way too much. I'd ask a personal shopper now if I were you while they have £119 as the last price. I don't know what they ask these days but it's got to be worth asking, and mention that it went £119 with Drew early evening today. They may at least compromise for the sale.

Love
Argey xx
