<img src="/images/DIAMOND3.jpg" border="0" hspace="4" align="right" />This Sunday on GemsTV1 you will see the showcase of premium Aphrodite Diamond collection. Inspired by the Greek goddess of love and beauty this collection exhibits stunning white fire. GemsTV said: "We have chosen an amazing collection of rings, bracelets and earrings for you to choose from with all pieces set into 18 carat gold.<br /><br />For fantastic designs showcasing the most opulent Diamonds watch GemsTV1 this Sunday 7pm - 9pm."<br /><br />

And the proper grade is........

I've been watching Lucy and now Matt introducing this new range. Some designs are exclusive one off's and there was
a fabulous bracelet on earlier. It did have some sparkle indeed.

Lucy kept mentioning that it was the best quality they have ever had........being 'ice white Aphrodite' diamonds.
What I really want to hear is the proper grade as I recall their earlier 'Purity' range had SI and even some VS diamonds in
some of the pieces.

So I suspect that they...at these prices....are probably SI and G colour.........probably unlikely to be D,E or F do you think?

Just wonder why they are being so coy in providing a universally recognised grading? :33:

I was wondering the same, Sacha. At one point Lucy said...'I shouldn't really say this...' then there was a pause, she looked as if she was speaking to the producer and said... 'Yes, I'll be careful...' then made a very laboured point (without mentioning any details of grading or colour) about if you wanted to buy a good quality diamond you could buy from Gems TV knowing you'd be hard pressed to get it for a better price elsewhere.

It all sounded like complete waffle with no hard facts...at the kind of money they were wanting for the 'Aphrodite' collection why are they being so coy about the grading? Don't they think a serious buyer would want to know these details? Makes me think it's a lucky dip if it's S1 or S2 in clarity, DEFGHI in colour. :33:

I can't afford it, anyway, and after looking at Meeshoo's Asscher cut diamond I'm hanging out for something like that at a reasonable price (in my dreams) :18:.

I can't afford higher end jewellery, but I do like to see it and cannot bear being treated like some kind of ignorant fool. For as long as I have been watching they have been giving jewellery names istead of proper grading, i.e. majestic. They used to say that majestic was the highest quality available, then more recently it became the best they could obtain - two extremely different statements if you give them a moment's thought (no doubt they'd had a slap on the wrist from someone).

Fortunately because I don't buy at this end, this is not an actual problem for me but, because of it, if I had the loot there is no way I'd even bother looking at anything from Gems because I quite simply wouldn't trust them.

Wot a whopper!

Talking of higher end jewellery, I noticed this lurking on the website.

Now if only I had the loot.......

........it ticks all my boxes.

That's very nice indeed, Sacha :)

I agree about letting us know the grading of these diamonds if these are supposedly their top quality. By contrast, TJC were auctioning a diamond piece the other day - I can't remember anything about it except that they were definitely saying that the diamond was D in colour - so the buyer knew exactly what he or she was getting.

I watched a bit of it, but wasn't impressed becuase they didn't tell you any details about the diamonds. The presenter telling me they are great quality isn't enough IMHO, i want them to tell me the grades, colour and clarity, so that i can decide for myself if i feel it is worth the price etc, and so i know what i am getting.
I recently emailed gems tv regarding their diamonds, asked what the different grades of their diamonds are, and i got an email back saying they were I in clarity and I in colour. They didn't specify if all diamonds are this, or any other information, so i don't feel they gave me much information at all.
TJC on the other hand, emailed me back faster, and were far more forthcoming about the diamond grades

Got to agree with you all. Why would somebody, who's in the market to buy good quality diamonds, buy without knowing all the facts when there are other channels who give this information readily?

Gemdreamer - you've hit the nail on the head. Diamonds are priced according to clarity and colour grade. Therefore, you need to know that in order to determine if the price is good/bad/ugly. Not giving this information up front is misleading.

Absolutely Gemdreamer and Meesh. If I am to be persuaded to part with more than pin money, I want to know what I am buying. I too wouldn't trust gemstv, not to mention the dodgy gold - I have had a couple of bad experiences with aero bar gold quality. Save the pennies and get an independant jeweller to make a piece for you. They can be more reasonably priced than the high street when you compare exact "like for like" pieces.

I'd have thought, that if the diamonds are such good quality then gems tv would be shouting the grade of them from the roof tops, not keeping them secret. TJC are always going on about it if the diamonds are SI etc, as it makes sense to advertise if an item is of a better quality. 18ct gold for me personally isn't a reason enough for me to spend extra money, its the gemstones that generally make the impact, and thats what i would spend more money on.
