Just to update any one thinking of ordering through the personal shopper during the 15% discount week I rang personal shopper earlier today enquiring about some earrings I was interested in and was told the the discount doesn't apply to any purchases made via the personal shopper! even though it says on tv all orders (so not quite all orders then) :33:

From what I've seen over the past few days, they seem to have increased prices by 15% (or more) in order to give a 15% discount, and I ain't joking. Final prices including discount end up pretty much evens, I have seen several even higher (particularly TPearls in yellow gold) as I was particularly familiar with those prices. I've never objected to the general "cut and thrust" of a few quid here and there, as t was all part of the "game" - win some, lose some. However, the variations are so huge now that it's serious.

I had some success when the discount started. I was lucky to already have some pieces in my basket and found some good deals in the web games. Otherwise it's a total wee-wee extraction.

Erm, hate to throw cat among the pigeons, but I got the discount on a personal shopper item (the opal/paraiba ring from the other thread). Sounds like CS don't know their own rules.

Hiya PQ like you say don't think they know what they are doing, have tried again (just incase the personal shopper I spoke to gave me the wrong info) and they still saying no discount on personal shopper sales - so I think the personal shopper you spoke to obviously made a mistake luckly for you(was your order placed on the 1st day of the promotion? by any chance), as Argey has said prices do seem to have gone up though making the 15% discount not that attractive!

Hello Panda! Sorry to hear that I was the lucky one rather than you being given duff info
I did order on Day 1 of the promotion so I guess you're right.
I find it odd that their promotional material doesn't specify where the discount applies and where it doesn't - that smacks of misleading customers to me. Certainly when I got the email, I was under the impression that be it TV game, web game, personal shopper or web shop you would get the same discount - bang out of order if not true. Actually, the wording was the same as Graham's post I believe and I would imagine it would be enforceable if anyone wanted to take it further? Trading Standards? Coz it definitely says "every item you purchase" and "every piece of jewellery" in there. If those are lies they should be brought to account. Just had a browse through my emails but I can't find the orginal.

Hi PQ, Panda and All,

Gems are getting so careless (I'll call it that because I'm kind - lol) about their statements. The 10% discount code for April was quite clearly stated to be available on any order placed in April, whereas they would only allow it to be used once. So naughty. I wish I hated their stuff then I could just move on, but in amongst the tat there are still some lovely (but now expensive) pieces to be had.

I saw the most beautiful silver ring smothered in white topaz (about 200 stones) with a large sky blue central stone. It was a massive ring but at £150 I hope that most of that went in labour costs (I somehow doubt it though). It didn't sell at all. How much better to have charged a little more for white gold and I'm sure it would have gone. As I'm getting old, much as I love silver, I want there to be some return on the money spent at that sort of level, even if just scrap. I have a large collection awaiting my daughter, a lot of which just ain't her style so I'd like her to be able to sell it one way or another.

Sorry I strayed somewhat, but I guess it's kinda relevant.

I have emailed GemsTV to clarify the situation with regard to the Personal Shopper as it makes no sense at all why the discount does not apply across the board.

try this tip to get discount on personal shopper

heres something to try, go on the web, order any item and take it to checkout,, (it should apply payday discount) if it doesnt still put it in ur basket and checkout and ring cust service to get the discount, theyl add it immediately,

THEN, u will have an item in ur current orders..WITH DISCOUNT CODE ADDED.

NEXT ring personal shopper for the item u really wanted, theyl add it to the current order you have, (order same day)

NEXT remove the 1st item u put in ur basket, u didnt want it anyway,

what remains is the item u got from personal shopper and the discount.

Isn't this exactly what TJC did when they had their discount bonanza a while ago (was it 20% or something?) - hiking up the prices so that when the imaginary discount was deducted then the goods sold for the same price they always did, or more. Don't they think we watch the prices?

hi, because, one time the discount voucher didnt go onto my web order, so i rang cust services to get it put on, they put it on, then i changed my mind over 1 of the items. the voucher remained in the basket for anything else i added.

ALSO.....THIS IS NAUGHTY BUT IVE NOTICED THAT IF IVE BOUGHT A FREE P&P ITEM AND OTHER ITEMS AFTERWARDS IN SAME DAY (OR SO), THE FREE P&P REMAINS EVEN IF I REMOVE THE ITEM THAT HAD FREE P&P TO START WITH).. :20:

I have received a reply from the Operations Director for Gems TV:

"I can confirm that that Personal Shoppers are authorised to offer 15% discount during our current promotion.

There may have been some miscommunication somewhere - as a 15% discount is automatically added to all orders during the promotion."
