Who just paid £3999 for this :YIKES: because I paid £1499 when it was first aired on 9th April but returned it on Monday. It's a really beautiful ring but I just couldn't justify buying another tanzy when I still have several that I don't wear. It's definately the same ring as I've checked the code number. I feel gutted for whoever has paid such an inflated price and I'm shocked that GEMS are so blatantly devious about their pricing. :pPC:

Well somebody had to knock me speechless PPC, looks like you're the winner! It never ceases to amaze me what peeps will pay as soon as you tell 'em it's the last/only.

Argey xx

I didn't keep it Argey, I sent it back and now some poor mug has paid 2 grand more for it. Even taking into account the 15% discount GEMS are having a laugh. Why do people fall for thier hype?? :11: :pPC:

It's a lovely ring, but imho not worth that. Hopefully the person who bought it will come to their senses and return it. Makes me really angry, because it might be an older buyer (slightly confused) getting taken in. Luckily my mum didn't watch shopping tv, but I can imagine the scenario if she had!

OMG - why would somebody pay that much in the first place? The price you paid was right Sue. Oh dear.

Unfortunately Argey, that's not always the case. There's a significant number of people, who suffer from brain conditions who get really sucked in to the whole thing and end up in debt. The very least these channels should do is sell at reasonably correct prices and not completely scam people.
Some elderly folk (with alhzeimers etc) don't see many people and end up viewing the presenters as trusted friends! I just hope if that's the case in this instance someone's on hand to make sure the ring is returned.

Crumbs!!

It was indeed a stunning ring Sue, I can see why you went for it in the first place. I saved the pic when it was on earlier
and the code was 141383. I have seen it televised before but had forgotten how much it went for!

I also liked the miday special in YG (141417) but it was snapped up so quickly...even though it was just 14k gold.

Thanks for that - my father suffered Alhzeimers sadly he has now passed away ,but it looks as though mum is heading the same way ,point is my mum is a horder she will buy everything and anything and throw it all in a spare bedroom [it really is awful how we cannot get through to her] and i am so thankful she has never been able to work digital tv box, because the outcome could be horrendous!
when we get to switch to digital which is soon -we will have to block shopping channels [somehow] so i feel for anyone who cannot control their spending addictions.:40:

Roxy I am so sorry to read about your Mum and Dad. My mum has severe Vascular Dementia which has the same symptoms as Alzheimers. It's the most awful, horrendous illness and nobody could even begin to imagine what it's like if they haven't experienced it first hand. Big Hug to you x

Hi Guys,

I'm sorry that my post upset some of you. I certainly didn't have dementia, or any other mental illness, in mind at the time. I was thinking more of the "loadsamoney" type peeps (easy come - easy go), of which there are still many.

Sorry once again for not considering my phrase more deeply.

Argey xx

It wasn't your post Argey. I'm pretty passionate about the way elderly people with brain probs are treated in general, having seen the way my mum was targeted by, in her case, catalogue and junk mail companies. Seeing this ring go for such a huge amount of money made my blood boil a bit, wondering if it could be someone in a similar situation to my mum. Some people have no family to look out for them. It's desperately sad that such vulnerable people are seen as easy targets.

Argey hun I never thought that for one minute. You certainly didn't upset me so stop worrying I'm sure nobody thought you meant anything other than what you did mean xx
