It's been a while since Gems tempted me in, but I succumbed to these this week:

As recommended by Argey! She was right, this sparkles amazingly, especially in spotlight. I've never been a fan of white topaz, I find it makes for rather dull accents, and the one oval solitaire I sent for went straight back as it was a little too like glass. But for some reason these twinkle like mad. They also set off the andesine rather nicely - and I can't believe you can get such a big look in gemstones and white gold for the princely sum of £25.50 (after discount). Much nicer than my pic would suggest.

Not impressed by Brazilian Pink Topaz I'm afraid - like all the morganite I've ever sent for, it's gone back for being too pale. It does sparkle like mad, but that wasn't enough to make me keep it. I wasn't entirely convinced by the shape of the cluster either, not sure why but I just didn't take to it.
I thought I might be being a little unfair, so I dug out my kunzite and my rose quartz for a comparison:

I'm afraid I prefer both of them, both show more colour to the naked eye, not sure that the camera has caught it though. (As an aside, I've not worn either of those rings for ages, I'd forgotten how lovely they are!!!)

OK, yes I know there are a few pics too many there! I do love this I'm afraid. I was trying to capture it in different lights to show you the real look, but I don't think I've really succeeded. This ring was going to be all about the opals, and they are astounding. The colour play is amazing, in practically every lighting condition - I don't think I've managed to catch it in any picture, it's just soooo nice. In fact, the opals completely overshadow the paraiba, and as such I think this comes out a little expensive. Without the paraiba, I'd think it was about a £60 ring, but I just can't bear to part with it! Not that there's anything wrong with the paraiba, though it's not as intense as the web pic suggested (no surprise there!). It just seems a little wasteful that you don't notice it so much most of the time. It's actually a totally different shape from what I expected too! It's very much a rotated square, I thought it was longer! Anyway, it really didn't take much deciding that it stays, I know for a fact that had I posted it, I'd be kicking myself - been there before, and it's well annoying, so there was never really a hope it would be going.

Love the old opals and PT, it looks smashing in your piccies - could be drawn myself if it comes up again.

xx

Lovely haulage Anne. The andesine looks like a ruby!

I've got to say that I'm surprised at how pretty the PT and Opal ring is.

Lovely pieces to add to your collection.

Well done, PearlyQueen. I'm glad you're pleased with the rings but I have to say, being an opal lover, the opal and Paraiba ring is my favourite. It is such an unnusual combination and seems to bring out the blues in the opals. I especially like the way the heart cut opals have been used...again very unnusual to get a heart cut opal and something I would love to have :D.

Love the opals and PT - it's unusual to think of PT as playing second fiddle, but I think it's used really nicely here with the opals. The andesine is lovely and vivid, and you're right about the pink topaz - there are some deeper tones around, and if you've got other rings that you would always wear instead, then there's no point having it. Two out of three's not a bad haul, and the keepers are lovely :)

Well done on your purchases PQ must say I really like your opal and PT ring the combination goes really well together, must say I purchased some pink topaz when it was first on gemstv and didn't like it much either.

Very nice........

Totally agree with your keepers Anne. The pink Topaz is too much a 'hint of a pink' it seems and it does look a bit over 'clustered' irl.

The other two are very pretty designs and I'm more impressed with the opal ring than I expected to be. I saw it auctioned a couple of times....at quite differing prices...and was very tempted. If only the PT's had been a touch greener! Also till Huggles mentioned it, I hadn't realised the opals were heart shaped.....:7:

They both look lovely on your finger and I do think the shape of the opal ring looks sooooo nice!
Think I really missed a trick there.......:31: But well done to you for taking the plunge.

I have beautiful long nails now, having bitten them for many years. It's called the "no teeth method". <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D4%252F4%255F15%255F4%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_15_4.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D4%252F4_15_4%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>
