Just back from holiday and noticed that Drew is no longer in the presenter list on Gems. Did he leave at the same time as Rod? It seems to be musical chairs a the moment.
I haven't bought as much from them lately but I do watch sometimes and find the "old" ones easier to watch (well most of them anyway!).

Please not another one out of the backdoor. How rude can this get. We have these people "in our homes" and they have been disappeared without so much as a mention. If it should be that a presenter doesn't want a fuss (though I don't think this is the case for so many given the circumstances) then we could at least be told afterwards. I reiterate - what happened to first in last out, seems to be one half of couples this time around but in this case I think we got left with the wrong one (sorry). Drew was one of my favourites, and this has put me right off the Shades of Nature hour! xxxxx

Do you think they have offered redundancy and maybe Drew and Rod chose it?
even so this doesn't change the out the back door attitude! a fuss is made when people go on maternity leave (which i think is GREAT!!!) but when people leave nothing! as you said Argey they have been in our homes for a few years and we don't even get the chance to say goodbye! huh!

Absolutely Gemcherub, and even should there be bad feeling Gems should not display that to us, and these furtive departures just make our minds work overtime. xxxx

I emailed GemsTV over the weekend to ask if they had any official Press Release regarding presenters leaving, sadly my email has been ignored.

My guess ...........

2 TV channels = 2 sets of presenters
1 TV channel = the need for less presenters

If I were part of a couple working at GemsTV, I think I'd be more inclined for one to jump ship. It's safer not to have your eggs in one basket!

I would have preferred that some of the newer, less established presenters had left instead. I'd rather see the lovely Drew than the dire Lucy. The brilliant Rod than the nasally Liam .................. etc.

There's a surprise! If they want their customers to feel insecure about ordering this'll be the way to do it. We ain't so thick that we can't calculate that two into one won't go, but when they're secretive about it one can't help but speculate how bad is the situation. xxxxxxx

I agree with your logic Meeshoo. I wouldn't want to be working in the same company in the retail industry as my partner.
Given that Gems clearly hopes to entertain us as a way of attracting us to exercise our credit cards it would be good if they could at least announce what is happening with the presenters.
We do all have those that we prefer and although the jewellery is the most important thing, we are concerned about the way a business treats it's employees. It sasys a lot about the business ethos.

Arge they've NEVER announced people leaving unless it's been for maternity. I think this is the "norm" for Gems. Don't read anything into it hun. It's a blinking shame that our friendly faces are going but let's face it, they'll pop up on Rocks and Co or RocksTV! If you look back at our posts from about a year ago, you'll see we all suggested moving back to one TV station rather than 2! It makes economic sense!

Glitterbug - just seen your post. Apologies for seeming to ignore it. One other thing to bear in mind ..... I don't know any company who will openly announce who will be made redundant (if they are being). I've never known this to happen. A lot of companies will respect the privacy of the individual and many individuals prefer to keep this information private. I do understand that GemsTV are in the public domain and it would be nice to have a "we wish them well" message on the presenters page BUT that only creates speculation also!

Nah - it's okay Meesh, I'm sadly too aware of the backdoor outing of the presenters (I've been whinging on about it for yonks), I'm just looking at it from the point of view of their audience in general. I don't need to know the whys and wherefores either, just the simple courtesy of acknowledgement. Gems are a little different, as the presenters are clearly encouraged to hold themselves up as "our friends". It's not the closure of the channel that I find disturbing but this secretive removal/resignations of it's presenters. I never did understand why they spread themselves so far across the channels unless it was to block the competition from getting the airtime, etc. (thoughts of Tesco stylee spring to mind). xxxxxxxxxxx

PS - if they did shut up shop, I'd stand a good chance of getting me bike - lol. xxx

Logically I know that you are right Meeshoo. I work in HR and it would be unheard to make announcements about individual circumstances for private individuals. Even then we do let colleagues know what is happening as far as possible. However, as you say, they are public personalities to a certain extent, and it would be a courtesy to wish them well.

I agree but I think Data Protection applies even if they are in the public eye. So unless a presenter said "I don't mind, let's tell the world I'm leaving" I don't think they could do it. Media personalities might be exempt but I don't think so.

Yes he is Suzy, such a shame if he has gone, I wasnt too ken on him at first but he grew on me, would have much rather preferred it if his other half had gone, i have to mute the telly when she's on lol,
All the best Drew, with whatever your future holds xx

Yes, I know what you mean, though I think they must have been putting sumthing in the water there lately cos most of the presenters have been really loud and even odd at times lately, I had to mute tv yest when 1 in particular was having a laughing fit at her own joke... I mean it was really grating.

Ok I expect sum weird waffle from Matt. ..but I do find him very watchable, and listenable, and he has some interesting nerdy facts even though mostly about cult tv shows and computer games... but he can get away with that I think in the delivery...

Some of the words being used are doing my head in too... Adina and her 'Grammage' in particular and Vicki and her 'embroiderery!'

Puuurrrrrrrrlllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaasssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeee!

I am not a boffin but i dont think grammage is even a jewellery term? even if it is..it bugs me lol..

Hi - thank goodness, I thought it was only me - Adina drives me mental! I cant watch her, and Vicki with her patter, presicely what you mention "embroidery" its the over kill on items "this is fashion, this is style, this is blah blah yakkety smakety exclusive!" it just makes me want to hit myself over the head with a very large stick! lol Loved Drew, he made me laugh! Its just sad that we the viewers are all at sea, as we dont know who is going, the continuity is failing - I only watch now when its not Adina and Vicki - sorry but my ears are important to me! lol xxx

Well I don't have to worry about which presenter is on nowadays because I can't watch any of them! I used to like Lyn but too much waffle from her now, Scott is probably the best of the bunch that are left and Matt (who I'm sure is lovely) sadly puts me to sleep! I did like Drew though and found him very amusing so it's a shame he's gone.

As for the rest of them?

My main method of viewing now is to have the games page open on here, and watch "proper" telly or do something else. If something catches my eye, I can flick channels. I used to watch Drew, Lynn and Rod for pleasure, will watch Angeline (who was my favourite at one time) although her volume is increasing lately. I'll also watch Nick because he's so good at just getting on with it and keeping it moving, and "tricky" (lol) Scottie because he is very entertaining.

I've been watching them all more than usual for the last 4/5weeks because of all the lovely deals, but a couple of the presenters are making it really difficult. However, whatever is happening jobswise must be disturbing for them all at least a little since, at best, they are having to say goodbye to old friends/colleagues. xxx

Given the fact that two other presenters at another channel have had to leave becasue they were getting married, you don't think there is a similar policy coming in at Gems to get rid of one half of any couple do you? That would be bad news for Angeline and Nick!!
