Daffy duck ?????

Is it just me, or is Lulu looking more like Daffy Duck ? Presenting her TSV - her eyes were wide and poppy, and her mouth !, :mysmilie_12:well it defied belief. Sorry, Lulu old girl (yep I'm entitled to say that, cos we are the same age !) but carry on the way you are, and you will become Britain's answer to Joan Rivers !

Some may find the products ok, but mewonders if the same chemist is involved in the marketing of all theses "celebrity" skin care merchants. What with Lulu, Stephanie Beacham, Twiggy had a range which sunk without trace, then there was Linda Lusardi with a now defunct eideilweiss assortment of skin care.

What makes me laugh, is that these "celebrities" have all had 'work' done, then try and attribute it to the creams they are flogging !

I was watching a bit of the show, but had to turn over.. Seeing Alison Keenan say about Lulu, 'look theres no airbrushing done here'.. Meaning that Lulu looks the way she does because of her skincare range! Im sorry, but qvc are misleading people, because Lulu has had work done, every time she is on, she looks different.. Qvc should be reported to the Advertising Standards Agency for misleading viewers into thinking that Lulu's face is ALL down to her skincare range & not surgeries/botox.. At the very least, the presenters shouldn't make these untrue comments on air.. Gullable people at home will believe it & do not realise that Lulu has had god knows how many procedures (allegedly).. It just really gets on my pips!

lu lu is looking more and more like victoria principle pam in dallas who married her plastic surgeon and also has her own range of skincare.

I agree with everything you said brissles but wasn't it the poor old Emporers new clothes? Sorry I am just nit picking.

The simple answer is 'beauty' costs big money. It depends on your idea of beauty...I look like a bag of spanners most days but really don't care, if you don't like me because of the way I look then I'd really not like you as my friend. Some of the most 'beautiful' people I know are as wrinkly as hell with lots of 'problem' areas (as the beauty specialists would describe them). Basically the message being sent is: youth is beauty. Until that changes in our psychi then these beauty pimps will be able to ply their trade and make good money out of others insecurities...I'm not giving them my money and will continue to be 'ugly' but happy in my skin. :mysmilie_696:

Actually I think she looks OK at the moment, especially as she has her hair in a simple style. When she was here with the last TSV she looked weird; like Cleo the goldfish from the Walt Disney version of Pinocchio!
As someone else said in an earlier post, it seems as if these injections etc. create a slightly different look every time they are used and I find that very disturbing.
Alison (Keenan) should really have been a bit more careful about the airbrushing etc comment. Lulu's skin looks great but her youthful looks aren't down to her skincare alone, that is blindingly obvious. It has to be said though that her type of pussy-cat face shape does age better and she also was baby faced when younger.

just switched on and thought lulu looked ill then i realised when they did a long shot that she has a light shining on her face (that kathy doesnt) and this must be washing her out

My skin is terrible this week still getting breakouts at 45 but still think i look natural- unlike lulu okay so shes 60 odd but lulu looks like all those other tv and film people trying to knock 15 years of their face and end up spoiling it -please stop unless you have been injured or deformed you dont need this filler/surgery crap otherwise i and oters just stare at your face and dont listen to what you are saying cos its too distracting

Well said Huggles!! :mysmilie_696: True beauty is ALWAYS more than skin deep. I think a little bit of grooming and makeup is enough, but no one should be made to think they have to spend a fortune on beauty products (or clothes, for that matter) to become 'beautiful' - like you say above: these 'beauty pimps' (love it!) are just trying to cash in on our insecurities, whilst they laugh all the way to the bank!!

Huggles you are my kind of woman! Lulu has a look of "Bride of Chucky" about her these days. The definition of beauty in our culture is a very narrow one, and of course it is a real money spinner too. I was in the vast Boots in town yesterday (yes I venutured out to the High Street!) and was struck by the fact that there was an almost endless choice of make up, hair stuff and skin care and yet no-one seemed to be strolling around looking like a super model despite what these products promise. I think all my women friends are beautiful, their kindness, humour, our shared good and bad times gives them this beauty. Make up and skin care should be fun and a way of spoiling our selves not part of an unattainable ideal. Why is it almost seen as a crime to age?

Having reached the age of 51 with having about 10 necessary operations, the last one resulting in a blood transfusion I think that to actually go ahead with surgical procedures for no apparent reason other than to enhance looks is totally shallow. If people need to have cosmetic procedures to correct deformaties then fair enough, we do unfortunately live in a world where looks are paramount. Well, I have a scar across my throat, two long scars on both knees, a hysterectomy and gall bladder scar along with a scar on the front of my hand. You know what........I couldn't care a jot because I am grateful that I have them and if others find them offensive........TOUGH!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I remeber Lulu in her youth have bad looking skin, so I am under no illusion she has had some procedures along the way.

I can't watch any of these weird looking women on tv. I feel physically repulsed and couldn't even begin to focus on what they were trying to sell. I love Holby City but it's spoilt for me at the moment because I can't get past the gruesome spectacle of Leslie Ash and her incredible lips. I feel so sorry for them though, they must be so riddled with insecurities to do that to themselves. They were both so attractive too.
Give me the natural look with ''life' lines, natural lips and moveable faces, and Huggles..... I bet you're just beautiful! :mysmilie_12:

I think this example, for one, takes the biscuit. Who on earth needs a mini brow lift at 23, and mores to the point, why on earth would a surgeon agree to do one (+ 9 other procedures in one day!) on someone so young?! She'll end up looking like MJ at this rate by the time she's in her 40s!!

HEAR HEAR.....and I haven't been through what you have either...just cannot understand the mentality of it. I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to look your best...but I certainly wouldn't put myself through such an uneccessary risks 'cause I'm embarrassed about aging....it happens to all of us. I heard someone say, and I can't remember where, that " a good breast, is a healthy breast" how true is that?!
I think Lulu looks ridiculous in the mouth department, like the character "Middler" from the riddlers (kiddies tv show!) and I would guess her teeth aren't her own either! Don't know what it is about the "facelift" brigade that makes bringing out their own skincare range a natural ..ahem...progression following years of cosmetic surgery. Perhaps they think we've forgotten this, and will look at them and saw Wow...so and so's looking great, must buy their range. How long until Anne Robinson jumps on the bandwagon...you are the wrinkliest link...goodbye!

I agree with you totally! I have a friend who had breast enlargement surgery a couple of years ago. She was perfectly gorgeous beforehand and, after the surgery, she had two ridiculously out of proportion breasts that looked as if they had been stuck on. A month or so ago she had another operation to reduce them in order to make them look a bit more natural, and she was in the operating theatre for nearly eight hours. Eight hours for the sake of vanity and not for necessity is madness.
Maz, anyone who finds your scars offensive is an idiot and not worth your notice.

I can't feel sorry for them, they knew the risks. Insecurities, yeah perhaps, specially if their past careers were based upon their good looks, but still can't feel any real sympathy. Yep, with Leslie Ash it was pure bad luck that her cosmetic procedure went wrong, and many others got away with it..but the bottom line is, and I'm sorry if this sounds harsh...it's her own bliddy doing!

Funny thing about face lifts, and I'm talking about the ones that actually go right...you can bliddy tell most of the time anyway, that permanent look of surprise around the eyes, the trout pout, the inability to show any expression in the face..apart from surprise that is!!!!!

i am sorry but i cant watch her as she switches or did twixt a lovely scottish lilt as she should haev & then back to a pheudo american accent & then to cap it all went into a what i would call me telephone voice [ i have to else no-one outside yorkshire can understand the broad accent ]....
+ i had to laugh as watching a bit of celeb BB.....with steph without make up on..i was channel hopping & there she was poised on a sofa or something looking absolutely fabby & going on about the new IW range of products that we couldnt live without......she had obviously forgot to take them in with her.....i like my tub of elemis etc but take me as i am wrinkles & all [ like someone else said..if you dont like what you see then sod off cos i want proper friends not people who want beautiful people by their saides.].......back in my youth there was a girl who would only go out on the pull so to soeak with people she called dogs behind their backs.........why....so she could look better herself.......needless to say she soon ran out of friends....dont know what happened to her as we were all out having a ball.....sorry guys.......just needed a ramble.....i feel better now....

Agree with you Maz, I am going to have to have surgery on my spine, was at the hospital yesterday after my trip to town. Have had quite a few operations in my life and cannot imagine voluntering for surgery with all the attendant risks simply for cosemtic reasons. Totally understand corrective stuff but face lilfts and mouth stuff, I just don't get it. I think you can always tell when "work" has been done. My other concern is that these procedures are being "normalised" by the media while little is said about the inherant risks.

Totally agree with the comments about surgery ( though it is a matter of personal choice) my concern is how many of these treatments are sold as quick fixes with the matter of pain , recovery time , and after effects are glossed over . My OH has recently had an area of skin cancer removed , due to its position he had to have what would be classed as a half brow lift. This was done under local anasthetic . I have seen this classified as " a lunch time procedure " on a cosmetic surgery website. BUT in no way is it a minor or lunch time experience 3 weeks later he is still in pain, with swelling and an inability to sleep well as the operation scars rub on linen etc. Dont get me wrong he and I are extreamly greatful for the operations but anyone who had this done as a purely cosmetic intervention would be in for a suprise on the level of aftercare and recovery time needed.
