In the middle of nowhere!!
Been watching this morning since 7.30am and Liv is presenting the final markdown, do i detect a distuburing disturbance in the dark side's force? this final, final markdown is set to going on until the early hours of this up and coming monday morning? how are they going to manage that one? I have watched a few games, and there has been a few, where the total of items being sold is more than 10, and only one has sold - before time out - and Liv was getting all excited saying things would FLY out the door - yes, probably my slippers - but hey ho!

Also Liv mentioned that she had been at gems towers since early this morning, and has ordered heaps, because of the ridiculously low, low prices, and her old man will probably go nuts! I thought the presenters at Gems couldnt buy the jewellery that they presented at the same prices that they were selling it to "customers" I always remember Drew mentioning that he bought his Niece (or goddaughter) an item of jewellery - and even he couldnt get it at the price he was selling it for - even with "staff" discount - and i remember ages ago, in days of old, the presenters (mainly the girls) would say things like "I hope my friend/my mum is watching, and they order one of these now for me.....as i want one!"

From watching this morning, and watching and listening to Liv, all hyped up and excited in a very OTT way, felt that, reading between the lines, something is not quite right - its like when the show must go on, stiff upper lip, type presenting - iam quite surprised they havent got the song its the FINAL COUNTDOWN playing, but with James Russell on karioke - changing the words to FINAL Co..MARKDOWN! Dont know what it is my little padowan's but i feel like a million souls have just all screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" at once! there is a strange disturbance within in the force!" xx :mysmilie_17::mysmilie_17::mysmilie_12:

oh it is funny isn't it

a few flashing things on screens and they think we're interested.

from what is said on here, this channel never looks the same and is always so expensive

the presenters look like they don't give a s*** thesedays anyway

more importantly THESE PRICES ARE CARP do they really think we are stupid

I'm not with it enough in the mornings to have the tv on, plus it distracts me so I don't make it out on time :mysmilie_697:

Last night Lyn Garnett or Jinks, said they were to make an announcement, I switched over to Rocks tv and must have missed it, wasn't anything to do with this was it, that song starts with ''Were leaving together, but still it's farewell'' :mysmilie_697:

:mysmilie_348:I saw all of 5.5 seconds of Lynne presenting on gems last night, was she wearing a posh ott frock? :mysmilie_701:

Does one think the final markdown (meltdown) is a subliminal message - are gems on the rocks? I just find it strange, how many clearances they can have - specially if you take into account that last autumn for nearly 2 months that i can remember, they had clearance sales, final clearance sales -and ultra clearance sales!!! :mysmilie_34: I thought they were floundering back then - is the gemstv flagship going down - or will they be thrown a life (raft) line??? :mysmilie_61: :mysmilie_17: xx

not brought from gems in soooooooooooo long, loved it when they did the £1 games, was interesting to watch then. but this final markdown thing has some really good prices, i was shocked! had given up on gemstv to be honest, but have grabbed a few things as gifts for people. just hope they are nice when they arrive. now what gemstv need to do in ny opinion is sort out their postage charges! way too high! TJC do days where they reduce postage to 2.95 all day, fab, why can't gems do that!

I cant remember the last time I saw gems make a hulabaloo about a P&P free day! Once upon a time, you could order an item, and ask for it to be delivered on a date of your choice, at no extra charge - i note that this facility is now £9.95 - i dont want to pay that - so i dont. I dont know what it is, but the enthusiasm, or lack of it, does not encourage me to buy, not at the moment - :mysmilie_34:

i know where your coming from, £9.95 postage is just silly! even Harrods doesn't charge that much! i personally think £6.95 is too much too, but if the items are good prices it sometimes is worth it.
by the way, does anyone know how long you can keep items in your basket for at gems now a days

Funny how we all see things differently. I think the p&p is a redeeming feature of Gems. £6.95 for as many as you want in one day, every day, is way beyond anything TJC do for us in this respect with their usual charge being per item. £9.95 to hold delivery of an order for three weeks seems fair enough to me, and you can usually add to it a little longer than the £6.95 though it does vary. £14.95 sounds a lot but if you shop a lot with Gems this can work out very fair as you get a Saturday delivery (brill for workers), and at least a week to keep adding to your order. If you use each facility carefully then I think they can be the best on offer. I currently have two massive orders on the go. One for just £9.95, which will be picked on payday, and the other which will allow me to buy little bits and bobs in the clearance throughout the rest of this special. I have all the girlie birthday, thank you, treats, and prezzies for me, that I need for the next ten years. I'll post some examples on t'other thread started by whingey old PG, a little later. :mysmilie_698:

Huh! D'ya think I'm scared <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D15%252F15%255F4%255F127%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_4_127.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D15%252F15_4_127%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a> too right I am. xxx

Given its title, here is actually as good as anywhere so here are some of the goodies I have on order, I'm too embarrassed by my greediness to show them all, nor do you have the time to look at them :mysmilie_697:

I hogged a handful of these necklaces in various gemstones, weights and styles as gold weights/price extremely favourable, and will make terrific gifts, all at £30 something. A mistake or loss leader I think, as they are currently going on telly for twice as much or more.

I love this big old beastie, and I can't see it getting back out of my door once it's in.

A little cutie for the price in gold albeit just a smidge.

http://www.gemstv.co.uk/Shop/productDataSheet.jsp?productid=UWH4563&menuselection=3&colourScheme=9 £12.57

This looks like it could be fun, given that it's so huge, certainly worth a gamble at that price.

http://www.gemstv.co.uk/Shop/productDataSheet.jsp?productid=UUC0034&menuselection=3&colourScheme=9 £20.53

This is a marmite ring, but I have it in pink and love it. I have someone in mind for this who will love the design and the colour, but unlikely to believe that I have kept the cost within agreed bounds.

Well that's yer lot, if not the lot :mysmilie_697: Well worth the time spent trawling the clearance section on the website every couple of days. xxxxxxxxxx

Wow Argey, some amazing bargain prices there!
If I had the cash I could see myself rushing over to the Gems website for a quick trawl if that's the sort of thing you can get for so little.
Sadly, funds are still low though, my Xmas splurge was strictly a one-off.
Hope they all look as good in real life - I love that brooch in particular, even though I'm not a smokey quartz lover, and the blue topaz/mop pendant is very interesting. Hope you love them!

Don't fret PQ - I've 'ad 'em all. :mysmilie_17:

Cheers. :mysmilie_12:

PS Gladiafinger is still doing a grand job. xxxxx

Fair enough Argey, I certainly don't begrudge you! Glad to hear you're still loving that gigantic beastie, the weight doesn't seem to have impaired your typing abilities!

Indeed not, but I do have one heck of a bulging, muscley finger. In fact I can spin my computer on it (the desk too) :mysmilie_701: xxx
