Hi all
I just flicked over to R&C and wonder is anyone know who the new presenter is?

I checked the website and it's only showing VB and Jerrilee!

No idea who he is but instead of a shouty woman, this time they've got a shouty man! Oh dear, he's now saying "you've got a minute to bin it"!!!! :mysmilie_11:

Ah yes, I remember him, ex sit-up and casino/quizzy type channels. That'll make him a gem expert then :mysmilie_701: xxx
 
He's Chris Hopkins (otherwise known as Christopher Rochford Hopkins as he's just told viewers!). He said it's his first day. TBH I don't think he's too bad - prefer him to the ditzy Jerilee. What I would say though is this - please shave the back of your hands! It's pretty off putting when showing close up of a pendant draped over his hand to see the black hairs on his hand magnified so much!!
 
I remember him on bid-up back in the day of the rising auction!

Since I am the "so called" number 1 fan of rocksanco as my alias suggests :mysmilie_17: , I think Chris Hopkins (formally of Quiz Call) has been quite good today.

It was his first day at rocksandco, and he did look nervous :mysmilie_81:, and goodness knows what training (if any) he has been given by Vicky Burton et al on gems. :mysmilie_81:

I agree he is a bit noisy, but then so was John Scott at times. He seems a little bit camp at times, like John Scott, so maybe he is meant to be the John Scott replacement! :mysmilie_61:

Vicky and Jerilee will be glad that there will be someone apart from themselves who can now do the rocksandco shifts. :) I think (so far) that he does have character, and it was his 1st day in the world of gems so I wish him and rocksanco all the best for the future :mysmilie_687:

He is absolutely nothing whatsoever like John Scott! My god he couldn't lace his boots! If he's a replacement for John then the idiot who thought that should be committed! John has more talent in his ar*s than anyone on that channel, past, present or future - not my opinion but pure fact.

I'm not surprised at all that you liked him Rocksandcofan as you appear to be happy with whatever Rocks & Co do!

I expected you to make that kind of comment towards me as you are "negatively disposed" as it says below your nickname. Have you got absolutely nothing at all nice to say about rocks and co, or is it far simpler to make negative comments.

No actually you're right - I have absolutely nothing at all nice to say about Rocks & Co. Would you prefer that I lie and give them praise when they give me no cause whatsoever to do so? Also, if you had read Mr Diniz's open letter you would see the reason I have "negatively disposed" below my username! As you obviously haven't you will have missed the humour intended with that.

Why would I praise a company who:-
1. Sell highly treated gemstones
2. Use the least amount of gold possible in their jewellery
3. Sell badly cut windowed gemstones
4. Charge ridiculous prices
5. Say that everything they sell is better than everyone else when it's not
6. Lie
7. Have unwatchable presenters imo
8. Are obviously in trouble hence their token 5 hours a day
9. Claim they've sold items when they haven't

Would you like me to go on?

Oh no, stop right there. I can now see why you have bad feelings for rocksandco. The only points I would disagree with you on are:

[1] Unwatchable presenters. I remember the "good old" days of John Scott, Ruth Linnett et al, were they unwatchable? I don't think so, I thought they were good fun, and seemed to know something (if not everything) about the jewels they were selling. I suspect what u actually mean is the current batch of presenters. JerriLee Bonner was a bit off her head in the old days, but I personally feel she has a better presenting style compared to how she used to be. My fave is Vicky B, she looks pretty, dresses in nice outfits and also seems to know a reasonable amount about gems. Only thing with Vicky is she does tend to go on a bit.

[2] 5 hours a days. Mmm, certainly think that this amount of time in a day is not going to make them a great deal of money, and cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel ie will they ever return to longer working hours. Don't know.

[3] Diniz et al. When I "first" saw Tony sat next to a presenter I thought it was quite a good idea for one person to bounce ideas / points with the other presenter, quite unique I think. But now looking at it since then I am not so amazed by the gem hunters from South America. They seem to like to give the big sell for any of their gems, and they also like amateur dramatics. It does not look good when T Diniz drops his head in his hands when a price drops below what he had expected. All seemed rather staged if you ask me.

[4] Would love it if they had more variety in their jewelery - they seem to only do rings and pendants, and a very occasional bracelet. And they dont seem to use silver at all.

After all that you might think I am not so much of a number 1 fan of rocksandco as I used to be, and you would be right. Even so, I would like to think (rather in hope than in reality) that rocksandco will get better, who knows.

Rocksandcofan, you are to them what I am to Gems. I am currently finding so much wrong with all the shouting, horrid music, creepy presenters, barrow boys and more, but I keep coming crawling back like the weak invertebrate I am becoming :mysmilie_61: Once they've had your loyalty and love, they just cast you aside and move on to romance their new customers, leaving umpteen broken hearts flattened under their feet stampeding to the microphone. (Sharp intake of breath and slow release)
