Please Please Please ask Carol to take a leaf out of some of her co-presenters on Rockstv and Gemstv. I know they have carte blanche to be themselves but she really is over the top and down right annoying.:headbang:

No I'm not comparing her to QVC blandness Argey, her loud squawking style is just not funny or in the least bit appealing to me.

I have to say I like Carol but I think lately she is talking so fast and non stop I worry she may hyperventilate if she dos'nt take a breath
slow it down a bit and maybe not quite so loud would be good
I must say I generally like watching the guys though

I really like Carol, she's enthusiastic, funny and doesn't take herself too seriously.
Talking about loud and screechy what about Allie, she is unwatchable imho so have to flick over.

I have to say, i do like carol - its the faces that she pulls, when she is messing about! some of them have me in stitches - come on, she is only having some fun - she doesnt take herself too seriously at all.

While i find Carol funny "at times", she's allso too loud and overbearing to watch for any period of time. Sorry, just my opinion.

I was watching Carol last night and I have to say her style has changed I can never remember her constantly saying well done well done well done and amazing amazing price it was like a broken record in the end it was so bad I looked at t'other side and Adina was on there so I switched off and went to bed and believe it or not I was a fan of Carols once

Funny you should say that, I was just thinking that almost all the presenters on both channels are now very shouty and pushy again. The only two exceptions that come to mind are Alan and Matt, neither of whom I think could do that style of selling if you beat them. I think it's a real shame as it takes away from the fun element and simply brings in a hint of desperation or cheap market stall tactics. I think it sounds worse from women as their voices are naturally higher pitched. I can no longer watch for the pure fun of it, only when I actually want something specific, and then with the sound off in most cases. I'm not unusual, so they could be chasing off a lot of casual sales. TJC had me on and off for most of yesterday, feeling very hot I couldn't be doing with being hollered at by all and sundry, so went for the more genteel approach.   xxxxxx

Are you tawkin' ta me?

I love Carol, yeah - she's loud, but very funny with it. If you want QVC stylee, I think you're on the wrong channel. xxxxx:mysmilie_378::mysmilie_8::mysmilie_852: xxxxx

carol is brill, when she comes on the dog next door starts to bark, heaven knows what the owners think is going on:devil::sun::sun:

I like Carol and Barry and Alan, I don't like the false gasps by some presenters when an item is on as if they have never seen anything like it in there lives before. Or the way they go mad about the price when it drops,as customers we know what we like and want and I do find it a little insulting to my intelligence to be treated like that.

I agree, Diamondgirl. I have no gripes about the presenters, they are who they are and are all different. You can't please everyone. But I have always felt it a bit silly when they gasp in amazement at a piece or when the price drops. I would be happy to be corrected, but surely they know what they are presenting and what price it will drop to. OK, there are a few exceptions when a falling auction goes wrong for them and they lose money. I remember in the old system the presenter once explained that the computer told them the start price, what it would drop to and what the cost price was so they should not drop it lower. Maybe it has changed now a person in the gallery is pushing the buttons, but I would still think that had most of that info on their bits of paper.

all the presenters are getting a lot more pushy - was it appropriate for Barry and Carol to announce that that a ring being sold on rocks last night would be sold for more on gems because it had a larger audience to make an auction move along I doubt it.

I do think the presenters should also watch themselves back occasionally alongside a chat scroll so that they can understand why some chatsters and viewers have such poor perceptions of them

I think that it is totally inappropriate too, Anjo. Gems TV customers would not be happy to find out that this was being promoted on Rocks TV. Not a good move by the powers that be...

Rocks TV presenters don't seem to bother to show off the jewellery like they used to i.e against the neckline, measure lengths etc. Do they think that spouting 'lowest price ever' is the only way to sell their jewellery.

I was watching Carol the other day and she was like a record stuck in a groove. Somebody needs to buy a new thesaurus.

Agree entirely Jellyopal - it's really insulting to Gems customers if they know that they are being treated worse just because they are buying from a different channel when the businesses are owned by the same people. Hopefully Steve Bennett will make sure that this doesn't happen long term as it's a bit of a cynical approach.

I quite like Carol, I think most of the presenters are good fun even if they get a bit over-excited at times. I imagine that they're all on caffeine overload a lot of the time to keep going, it must be quite exhausting talking non-stop for 4 or 5 hours a day!:giggle:

Just on the pricing issue - I agree that they go on about low prices all the time but we all know that we get what we pay for in life! I appreciate that there is a market for low cost items (and I've got some lovely cheap'n'cheeful things from Gems over the years!) but personally I'd rather save up for something that costs more but is much better quality, be it gold rather than silver or diamonds rather than white topaz etc. I think that they shouldn't say "lowest price guarantee" as that actually puts a lot of people off buying because they associate low cost with low quality. What they should say is "best value for money" - after all when we buy jewellery it's a luxury for ourselves or a present and we want to get the best we can for our money and have a lovely piece of jewellery.

Anyway that's my pennyworth for the month - I am pleased to see the Bennetts back owning Gems as it seems a lot more fun than it was before and hope both channels will bring lots more lovely jewellery at good prices.

I rarely post on here but do read the posts with interest as I have been a chatter and watcher of Rocks and occasionally Gems now it is the same company. I generally watch with sound off unless I want some info but that is nothing against the presenters, however my only real gripe is those wretched insulting irritating promo's with silly women nailing up their door or hitting their partners and that irritating female playing with herself in a field. I swear Steve leaves those on just to wind us up because he knows very well we hate them because we say so in chat many times - response please Mr Bennett I know you read these posts. I do however love the Rocks TV presenters trailers particularly Barry jumping in the pool always makes me laugh. One final 'plea' auctions are not 'games' we havent won anything and we havent played a game we are spending hard earned cash. On a positive note I have had some lovely jewellery from Rocks at fantastic prices thanks to auctions and price pledge and find CS very very helpful in even very busy times.

Hi Rocchic :hi: lovely to see you posting here. Its gemlover!! I haven't logged onto rocks for months. Hope all is well with you xx
