There were several pieces on my wish list on gems website i was after but couldn''t stretch to as i am going away soon, i was hopeing they would still be knocking around somewhere when i get back but i have emailed the shopper about one of the cheaper items to be told "as we are under new management and currently merging with Rocks TV, all items prior to 21st June are no longer available".
Where did they go  ? I'm sad gemstv had some truly lovely designs! :mysmilie_478:

Ne'emind GC, how about a nice tigerseye bracelet or necklace if you're looking for something different -lol. You can never have too much tigerseye, er, can you? xxxxxxxx

That's odd... Maybe they're liquidating the stock?

So what are they selling on Gems now - Rocks TV stuff?

Wished I had bought more before the change over

Hi all, I've been reading the comments here for a while now and this is my first posting. I only started buying from Gems last summer when my husband was confined to bed and surfed the channels to keep himself entertained. I guess he secretly regrets having showed me GemsTV

I have enjoyed the comments over the past months and have also used this forum to try and expand my little knowledge about good jewellry. I tend to purchase the cheaper end of the scale. But having said that had I picked one "good" piece and stopped there, I would have saved my hubby a lot of dosh.

I too am interested in GemsTV "old" stock. Had I known that the website would disappear pronto, I would have purchased a few more of the items that I had been looking at. Most weren't very expensive but I should have bought what I wanted (within reason) and if they didn't work out then give them as gifts at Christmas or as birhtday presents. But now some of the items are probably gone for good. Perhaps the new management didn't buy the "old" stock in the buyout or only those that are not obviously a Gems product.

I really liked the Victoria range and had a few things in mind to buy that would have completed a set here and there and thought that there'd be time next week. Boy was I wrong. I am really disappointed. I should have followed my instincts and just let the credit card suffer a month or two.

My wish list was fairly long overall and I know that I'll survive without the rings and things on it but I had hoped Gems' "old" stock would follow on and at least be in a clearance section under "new management". Oh well.

I will really miss GemsTV and its website :heartbroke:. It was one of the best. Liked the basket format, choice of delivery, ability to drop something from the basket and from an "open" invoice. I like the history of puchases, the credits of returned items; it was all there visible to the buyer. I like being able to point and click.

Shame on new managment for not working with the better platform of GemsTv. Yes, it would have cost something to get an IT professional to learn Gems's platform. Not impossible to do. My hubby and his co-workers do it all the time. It can be a pain if poorly written from the get go, but a decently written code can be adapted. Really liked Gems website. And I was told that it ought to be possible to take a customer's history into the new system. You just need to know what you're doing.

Sorry to blather on a bit but so far I am disappointed in the way things have been handled. I know that new management want to offer a cheaper p&p that can handle all the businesses but dropping Gems website didn't have to happen on Day 1. It could have been a gradual thing done over a few weeks or a couple of months out of respect for Gems customers. But who knows maybe new management didn't buy the GemsTV website and all that goes with it.

Thanks for letting me have my say.:mysmilie_504:

Yes Miss M. Two channels - same stock.

Looks like I've said goodbye to my happy hours of trawling clearance as Rocks don't seem to do clearance. Presumably old Gems stock has gone for meltdown or been sold as a "lump" to a retailer. Might I suggest it would have been a good idea to let us have it, as it would have made for excellent PR. Remember all the buzz when Gems diumped a pile of stuff in clearance at really daft prices? xxxxxxxxxx

Tell you what - they should have a big clearance sale combined with an Open Day, where we can all go along and buy stuff in person. Everything would be gone in a day. (Although they would of course run the risk of fights breaking out on the premises...)

Hi AmethystRox and a big welcome to the forum :hi:
I basically think the whole thing stinks :mysmilie_61: if they were getting rid of all gemstv stock why not put it all on the clearance section of the web at least over the weekend (past).
Why did they at no point tell us it would be our last ever chance to purchase the items? i for one would have put some on a credit card and paid for it at a later date, but as we were left totally uniformed AGAIN i assumed it would still be floating around after my holiday!
I give up :mysmilie_455:

:mysmilie_15::mysmilie_15: "tigerseye" :mysmilie_510: i personally think "the beady babes" selection of beads and pendants knocks the socks of rockstv beaded jewellery!:mysmilie_458: and i will be happier to spend my money with them!

Hi Amethyst and welcome.

I am a customer of both Rocks and Gems. For me they satisfied two completely different needs. I only lost interest in Rocks because of all the IT hassle and simply lost patience.

I feel that Gems customers have been treated very shoddily in this takeover, just cut off without any pre-warnings or information. We now have a Rocks clone in both stock and lousy IT, and the Gems presenters are still untrustworthy. I can't say how disappointed I am by an event that seemed to have so much promise.

I may not have been their best (as in how much I spent), but I was a good bread and butter customer purchasing regularly every month and similar amounts. I also used to make purchases on behalf of others who either do not have the time, or internet access. I strongly suspect that many of the Gems only customers will be left along the wayside after having been shown such scant regard and now receiving a lesser, or no service for webbers. Having made many recommendations to both companies, I now find myself embarrassed.

I was looking forward to this takeover, but sadly if you were to now ask me would I like to continue as is or go back to Gems as was (with all its faults), I'm afraid I'd take the latter. The mid-level buyer has been totally left behind. We now seem to have only the choice of minerals (which I love and have plenty of, but all seem to come from the same place), low level gold pieces with seriously poor gold weights that one would be afraid to wear (nor would want to), the lesser quality facetted gemstones in silver, or the much higher level of Lorique (very beautiful but well out of the budget of most folk). Back to the general internet for me I think.

Has anyone dropped Steve, Sarah or John an e-mail to ask what the plans are for the old Gems stock?

Don't be silly Sazza, if we did that we may not have anything to moan about. :mysmilie_518::mysmilie_17::mysmilie_488: I'll have a go now, and let you know the answer. xxxxxx

I will be very disappointed too if GTV will become a second rocks.

GTV has had its problems with silly items/pink coated diamonds...et c, but I much prefer their style to Rocks.
I have a couple of chunky rocks items which are nice, but as AB eloquently put forward, the other stuff is really inferior (except lorique) to gems, and not my style either.

I regret now not buying a couple of items over the past weeks...

Here you go, fingers crossed then:-

Hi Maggie

it will be coming back very soon, as will a lot of other features. The problem is when we first started negotiating with Gems TV UK to buy the business we were going to be using their technology and websites, that of course would have been easier, less stressful and would have been fine for customers. However, something outside of our control happened close to the completion of the deal meaning we were unable to use their systems and we had to react quickly to get the very basics up and running. Trust me, the team have had to work day and night to get up and running this quick and they have worked many a miracale!

Lots more features new and old will be coming soon.

Feel free to CC. this to all, or even post it on ST.

regards

steve

Subject: Gems old stock

Hi Steve,

A number of us (me most loudly to be honest) on ST are having a whine about
the loss of Gems clearance section and old stock. Sazza has just asked
(quite obviously, but hey-ho sometimes the brain gets bogged down with
trivia) that had anybody in fact asked you. So, Steve, can you please tell us
what you plan to do with the old Gems stock from the shop and clearance?

Many thanks.

Argeybargey/Maggie xxxxxx

Just looked on Gemstv and the IT is still naff rockstv standard, and its still just selling rockstv stock. Guess its rockstv mark 2 then!
