In this month's issue of The Scoop, the staff & customer newsletter for Rocks and Gems, Steve Bennett says, "I've also had some specialised training sessions with all our presenters to really fine tune their presentations in line with the feedback a lot of you have given."

Excuse me? I can't see that one jot of the feedback given on this site has been taken on board. If anything, in the last few weeks the shouting and acting, the exaggerated facial expressions, the repetition, the immature presenting styles reminiscent of CBeebies on a bad day, have increased and, in many cases, made the channels unwatchable during certain presenter's stints. Do I even have to mention the constant bursting into tuneless singing, inbetween bouts of yelling, that make up the presentation 'skills' of Carol R? The rushing to the gallery to 'confirm' what Angeline has just been told, along with her near hysteria and ever increasing volume as the auctions, sorry, 'games' (grr) progress? And Ali D's haranguing and berating, along with the requisite shouting, all done in the manner of an irritating child woman?

Next time there's a specialised training session, for Gawd's sake, get Alan to do it, since he's the only one who could be said to have anything in the way of broadcasting skills, and he might just be able to get across the message that shouting does not keep people viewing - I SAY SHOUTING DOES NOT KEEP PEOPLE VIEWING...

You know what I don't understand? Steve doesn't yell and scream! He gets animated but in a way that it enthuses others. I agree about Alan - a great presenting style.

For me, (especially Carole yesterday), the general presenting feel was of a downmarket TV shopping channel trying to flog low quality items to the masses. It smacked of a bad infomercial.

Well spotted Puss, didn't see that in mine, can't believe it though!! I've mentioned in another thread that, although sometimes they post that they're listening about the presenters, I've seen absolutely no evidence to that effect and I stand by my words.
I find the vast majority of their presenters really irritating now because I hate being shouted at and even when their volume drops, I don't appreciate being talked to in such a condescending manner.
I think this might be a classic case of mixing business with pleasure. The Bennetts have become so close to a lot of these presenters, that they are being allowed to get away with (presenting) murder. For me it's particularly the presenters that Steve seems to be closest to that I find the worst offenders. I'm being good though and mentioning no names! For now ....

funny you should say that...
it was Sarah 'guest' presenting that turned me off the most :bandit:

I always think Steve presents the jewellery well - especially necklaces - mainly its Gems presenters who dont really know where the screen writing is and many a time I am looking at the presenter rather than the item I might want to buy. Or is the cameraperson at fault.

I liked Sarah's style pre sky - not to say I dont like it now but it was calmer.....

Just bring back Jamie.....
