The new auctions running on the home page of Coloured Rocks baffle me frankly. I know Sarah has posted on here just this afternoon about the fabulous value for money Rocks customers get, but I have seen these online auctions close for a price higher than the start price!!!

A few minutes ago a 9k gold 0.50ct diamond ring closed at £479 with a start price of £473!! I've noticed this happening before and it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the pricing!

this "feature" has been brought to the attention of John B on so many occasions.....product codes, times etc etc I thought it had been solved by now

the same thing applies tho to tv auctions ............... I do challenge the boast of falling auctions - they clearly do stop and stick and not drop any further. Not in itself an issue unless of course you trumpet the fact that you continue to fall/chip/reduce or whatever you want to call it.

Genuine reverse auctions were the ones rocks had when they started. I remember many items going under £5 and even for £0 when they had a biggish quantity. The price dropped and dropped - none of this freeze and wating for peeps to come in!!

Loobi, I've noticed this a lot, too, and I've seen a price 'stick' for an awfully long time before the item sells. Funnily enough, it tends to stick at the price the piece always sells at. For instance, there seem to be many necklaces going at £19. It's very apparent during so-called star buys when there can be as many as 20 or more items left in the auction, but the price doesn't shift once it has reached a certain figure.
As to the online auctions, has anyone seen a price fall during the last minute because I certainly haven't, and I haven't seen much in the way of bargains there either.

An online auction right now is for something called "Spring Surprise 14", um, how do they mean, like? Firstly, I was under the impression it was winter, secondly, are we now supposed to bid on something we can't see??? Am I missing something here? I do admit, after all, to being a newbie to the world of jewellery channels.

You'll need to be carrying the full ex Gems catalogue in yer head to work this one out. Do you remember they used to make up little "surprise" parcels of around four assorted items for about £20 a go. They were seasonal and numbered set by set, as one sold out then out came No. 2 and so on. Clearly CR would do better to break 'em up and sell the items separately if customers are to have the first clue to what they're buying. Ooh maybe they could wrap 'em up eggie style and hide 'em in the garden for the kids to find next open day <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D8%252F8%255F3%255F21%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_3_21.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D8%252F8_3_21%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a> That is of course if Mr and Mrs Bennett can now get all their customers and fans in all at once for an open day :giggle: Steve and Sarah will need to lock up their valuables. I do hope Miss Magpie is okay, she'd make a great "Mistress in Charge of Egg Hiding". I've had me sleeping pill, so if this is gobbledy gook you'll find the answer in the back of your wardrobe. I'm surprised you didn't spot some on your last visit. <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D15%252F15%255F3%255F41%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_3_41.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D15%252F15_3_41%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

Anyway, back to question, if you want four bits of assorted silver jeweller and they're asking no more than £20 it could be fun, but I suspect the contents may be a bit naff. xxxxxxxx

On Rocks now, there's an 'add it to your order' auction. Some of the stuff is hundreds of pounds, not my idea of an add it to your order price...and the presenter is she of the strangled seagulls.

Having ventured in over the last couple of days on Rocks,I see this persistant tacky red flat screen with various 'Add it to your order' or 'Sunday sets' or whatever with the word 'clearance' across each one. The colour of the screen shouts low end for a start.

Very off putting anyway unless its genuine - quite frankly the amount of times Ive seen it and the same items - it now appears to be a 'selling feature' of rocks - everything is clearance - and with respect I have heard too often - oh its to make way for new stock - worrying it isnt selling - Jainey said to me some months back that Gems would eventually be more Glamour, high end formal and Rocks would be more 'cheeky' (?) informal - does this now mean tacky - probably should not be commenting because I am not buying or tuning in - however when I do the studio and the word clearance is not very enticing sorry I cant be more positive

online auction now alert! Apatite bracelet increasing in price as we speak. Once more, I feel the need to point the Rocksters in the direction of a dictionary, where they can look up the words 'reverse' and 'auction'...

Start price: £215
End price: £296

Bargain!
