I was skipping through the channels earlier this evening, (well, you know I like to get my exercise) and I popped briefly onto Gems, where Ruth was auctioning a pearl necklace, and was astonished to hear her say, "Now, I've got a three strand pearl necklace, but it isn't real, and my boyfriend hates it because it's not genuine, but this is genuine, real pearls..."
Sorry, but I don't think that's a particularly good advertisement for Gems. She's saying that she works for a jewellery company, where she'll get discounts, yet she wears fake pearls. Had I been a brand new potential customer I would have been left wondering about that. It's not as if she said that she's got real pearls as well as the faux variety, and that there's no comparison - that would have made sense, but this was a bit 'owzyerfather in terms of attracting new buyers IMO.

Oh, and another badly thought out thing to say from she of the strangled seagulls, Carol, whilst auctioning an ostentatious looking diamond monstrosity the other night on Rocks: "No way should this amazing ring be on this channel..." Don't think Steve would be too pleased about that one, squawky.

I must say I'm very grateful to Liv for clarifying something that has been puzzling me for a long time when she informed the viewers a short while ago that "Thai ruby comes all the way from Thailand." I feel most enlightened by this as I was of the impression that Thai ruby came from Rochdale.

Oh blimey, I thought Thai Ruby was a form of curry available at your local good curry house?
