Hi all, having come home from the most horrendous few weeks in hospital (when I can bring myself to do it I shall offload on "the Drop"), I had a moment of madness whilst taking a peek on Gems to see what they'd been up to. I saw the most gorgeous ring and pendant and before you could say "Gems is rubbish", they were in my basket and after many weeks on the wagon I had hauled over £200 worth of belated Chrissy presents to self, self and only self.

Lo, tried to check out this afternoon, when said favoured ring was showing that I could have no more than -1. Didn't take brain of Britain to work that one out, but silly old me never sez die, so I e-mailed to which I received only the automated response, and then later phoned as time was a-tickin'. As I'd suspected, the ring had been sold from out of my basket. I spoke to a very nice young woman but how can you express yourself to someone when you know this is none of their doing. I tried to explain my feelings of disappointment in the hope that she would pass it on so that the Bennetts might know that having regained an original customer they had immediately lost her again and why. However, having caught up with this forum it looks as though this will not matter in the least. Having leaned on the goodwill of their old and original customers for far too long, it now seems that only the new are of any import.

What a sad way to post for the first time after such a horrible experience. I had been looking forward to confessing my lapse but with the pleasure of showing off my goodies. Fat chance! I was offered a credit by way of compensation but what would've been the point in accepting that given that I have no intention of touching this company ever again, not even with the proverbial bargepole, or Yo's catheter even. As you know, I only ever use pinkie as a pointing/prodding tool when the police are to hand.

I did ask for my basket to be emptied but apparently they are unable to do that, so I'll have to wait for it to just die from neglect. You have my full permission to give me a good slap if I show any sign of weakness.

Otherwise, it's great to be home. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

PS - Forgot to say that the reason I was given is that the new customer level is going through the roof. I managed to raise sufficient venom to say that it's likely to go through the floor if they start treating newbies in the way they've been treating oldies.

Sorry to learn you have been poorly again Argey, hope you are now feeling much better.
Also very sorry that your first foray back to Gems in ages turned out to be a disaster, I genuinely don't understand what is happening at that company.
On a more upbeat note, it's great to have you back on the forum again!

I'm not surprised to hear your latest experience with Gems, Argey. And it's all very well for them to feel complacent because they are attracting lots of new customers, but how stupid to think that those customers will stay once all the old problems affect them, too. This short-term-ism is ludicrous, and about the worst business model you could use. A company remains successful when it builds up loyalty from its customers. How many of the newbies are going to hang around when they realise what a lengthy process getting a refund is? How many will hang around once they cotton on to the fact that so-called 'sales' aren't, and that they are being deliberately mislead by the terminology used, most notably, 'clearance', and 'lowest ever price'?

Hi everyone, I'm new on here but have been reading it for about twelve months. I have found it very interesting and informative, and have to say I agree with most of what has been said. When Rocks TV went on to the big screen, it changed so much, I lost interest. There was always a problem when you did buy something. When Gems TV was bought up, I made some fantastic purchases thanks to reading about the merger on here. I must admit anything I do buy now is usually old Gems TV stock as it is such good value; and bought off the fixed webb site. I find it impossible to watch the TV channels. With regard to their new customers, I do think there are so many of them that they really do not have to bother about old customers any more. If you look at your order numbers it tells the story. Last January my order number was about 12000. That was after they had been trading on the webb for about 18 months. This January my order number was over 370,000 after 12 months on the TV. I think that says it all. In the end I do have some fatastic jewellery and now probably is the time to stop buying. Sorry this is so long. Keep up the good work everyone , I love reading it.

Hey Lurgey me old mucker  It's great to see you back, I've not had anyone to insult for a while :giggle: I was in hospital for 6 days at Christmas so it's a shame we weren't in the same one - what a great time the nurses would have had us being the perfect patients

Sorry about your experience with Gems, but just think of the money you've saved!! Anyway you keep posting matey cos I've missed your special use of the english language :mysmilie_19:

Big hugs from me xxxxx :mysmilie_12:

Ah Lurgey - you're back are you? Trying to fool everybody about your sudden disappearance?

Well fellow forum members, let me tell you the real story. Our Lurge has NOT been imprisoned in a hospital ward, she has, in fact, been incarcerated in an entirely different institution. Yes, my friends, she has been at Her Majesty's pleasure (and I'm not talking about the pink thing).

The real reason that her basket was sold under her? Well two reasons actually. Firstly, her basket expired due to the length of incarceration and secondly, her sentence for gem dealing and fraud actually meant she now can't get credit (or own any type of credit card) - hence the basket dumping.

Yes my friends, our Lurge is actually a modern day Raffles. Well to be honest more Bring and Buy Raffle than Hilton Raffle but a Raffle nonetheless.

While you may think this is very glamorous, I have to beg to differ. For several weeks now my gems have gone unpolished, the safe is a mess and my ultrasonic hasn't had my tiara in it for weeks. My lackey Lurge has been otherwise indisposed. :headbang:

So no more "good to see you back" messages for her if you don't mind.

Love ya Arge and it's brill to have you back.

oh and by the way the title 'I should of known better' I've got that flipping song going round and round in my head thanks !!!!!!! xxxxx

I did try starting up trade in slippers and squash, but it's real hard work tryin' to barter with old biddies wot ain't got no dosh (or so they said hmmm!) I did manage to offload my dail chore of scrubbin' the loo wiv me toofbrush though. I was thoroughly browned orf after three weeks until a newbie arrived, who fell for the old "last one in" story,

I think four weeks was a bit stiff for such a minor crime. I would've got away wivit had me legs not exploded leaving me D 'n A all over the place. Oh well, I've dun me bird now so anyone needs me, as from next week, I can be found back in Meesh's safe polishing the jewels that I've been kind enough to lend to her. xxxxxxxxxxxx
