tuned into gems tv in a fit of boredom at 11.30 tonight and goodness gracious me - have I selected a "specialist channel". Victoria presenting in a top that is fit to stop traffic ............ how unpleasant, I held my breath. Sorry, cheap, nasty...and please stop bending over. Please let the gems speak for themselves. It was Red Carpet Glamour ....yeah right.

Oh yuck. Just turned over for a look. Waaaaaaaaaaay too much unglamorous cleavage and hair pulled back so tight into a ponytail it's a look that wouldn't be out of place at a Gypsy wedding,

and persistently hiking it up - revolting and cheap(er). Most of the women are beginning to look like nightclub hostesses who have been digging their gardens with their fingernails. As for the men - well I think they have just come in from digging the garden. Constant references to "my husband Craig" producing as well. This channel's obsession with employing friends and family is becoming close to creepy. Oh well, it saves on agency and advertising fees. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D1%252F1%255F4%255F83%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/1/1_4_83.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D1%252F1_4_83%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

I don't understand why Victoria wears so much make up. She is a beautiful lady and there is no need for it.

I also hate the way she moves her head to accentuate things, and her school teacher voice. There. Said it now :p

I agree, I understand you have to wear a little more make up on tv but I think Victoria is very attractive and would look stunning with a more natural look.

This poor Gems TV presenter could only afford half a top.

In principle, I like the idea of presenters wearing evening wear for evening shows, but it has to be CLASSY - not like this - otherwise it defies the point! (I'd love to see the male presenters in black tie, too, but that's probably just me...)

Yeuch, but I suppose if the tie was long enough to cover the dangley area they probably wouldn't look any worse than some of the ladies(?). xxxxxxxxxxx

Arge, I didn't mean JUST a black tie... ONLY you would think that!

Why do you all have such an issue with Victoria. She is an amazing presenter, beautiful woman and friendly to boot.

Leave the lass alone

Because we have a different opinion from you - she's not an amazing presenter, is certainly not beautiful and wears inappropriate clothing. She's full of herself and people get extremely annoyed with her presenting style - faux pauses, gasps etc etc. You say she's friendly based on meeting her once many years ago. I'd be surprised if she was anything else wouldn't you? However, I know people that she's been particularly awful to. Has that clouded my view? Yes it has but even if I didn't know all that, I still can't abide her presenting skills and dress ethic.

At the end of the day, she's in the public eye and therefore open to criticism both good and bad. If she was generally liked, I'm quite sure that would be reflected on this Site don't you?

I find it a little disheartening that out of 3 posts, you've chosen 2 to defend this presenter. I wonder why you don't participate otherwise?

I haven't got an issue with Victoria - I think she's a competent presenter.

BUT many of us would like to see all the female presenters (and V. is by no means the only offender) enhancing their natural beauty by being somewhat more modestly and appropriately dressed, without such massive displays of cleavage.

Definitely nothing personsal!

Not a fan, sorry............

I didn't used to mind Vicky B as she used to be, when she was originally on GemsTV. She used to chat a bit and had a self deprecating sense of humour. However.....since her stints in Reno? and R&Co, she's now too much over the top every which way for me. I'm not fond of presenters wagging their fingers all over the place and into power selling! I feel as though I'm being berated by someone half my age!

I also don't have a problem with Victoria, she is by no means my least favourite presenter on Gems. I can think of many who irritate me far more, shriek at me louder and have their baps hanging out all over the place during my breakfast, thus putting me off my cornflakes.
However, isn't it sad that I have to say not one of my least favourite presenters, rather than one of the ones I like most? I used to like many of the presenters on old Gems, they were fun and relaxed, but I think whoever is in charge of presenters and their training now is mixing up those words with the word manic.

Couldn't agree more. It smacks of desperation. The stupid thing is that people would buy more if it weren't for these awful sales tactics (that clearly don't work)! Perhaps whomever is in charge of training should watch a few hours of John Scott to see how to win over (the majority) of viewers.

I think the only time Victoria has managed to amuse me in the slighest is when she turned up sloshed to present for Rocks & Co. xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I dont think I necessarily passed comment on Victoria in general, either positive or negative....what I did observe was that the dress was more relevant to another type of channel. Nothing wrong with glamour - but glamour doesnt have to mean inappropriate, distracting from the jewels and just plain cheap looking.

I agree with the comment that Victoria is an attractive lady and also that on tv a certain amount of make up is needed - heavens above, dont the men wear it too to dampen their glow...but we seem to be heading towards the pantomine dame look by more and more of the female presenters.....used to be the product was the star.......perhaps these are distraction tactics by the company to deflect from same old, same old but lesser quality, higher prices. After all, we are so busy holding our breath and hoping to goodness those bosums remain fettered where they belong that we inadvertently hit the buy button - then wait 30 days for a refund. Or alternatively, the "interested" viewers hope they do get over excited and hope for a wardrobe malfunction to brighten their day

I have heard the theory that the excess cleavage is a tactic to encourage husbands to tolerate their wives watching jewellery channels, and the men won't be in too much of a hurry to switch over...

They'll be handing out mobile super monstrous rate numbers soon, so that the boys can call into the studio whilst having their wallets gradually emptied. xxxxxxxxxxx
