Whats the fascination with gold plating all of a sudden? Of course I figure its a cheaper way of seeming to offer gold jewellery. We've all heard the hype of course about the thick layers of the plating which means it wont rub off - but can anyone offer any advice...... I am dubious, never trusted plating, think it will just work its way off. I for one would rather start with what I am going to end up with - a plain and simple silver item or save my spondoolies and buy gold I can be sure of.
Then of course, all of us who collected the silver kama or milano charms - now all of a sudden we get gold plated ones - I am maybe old fashioned, and dont want to mix the two on a bracelet.
Anyone got any words of wisdom on the longevity of gold plating and maybe the cleaning of it - if any of us are tempted...................... sorry, I seem to have an obsession with jewellery cleaning but after my disaster with the apatite :doh:, I am more than cautious!!!!!
