the ratings system so well loved by all customers of qvc i feel are being abused by alison young in yesterdays show. she referred to the pro collagen marine cream several times saying that it was most suitable for combination and even oily skin when several people said in thier reviews that it bought them out in a lot of spots. the reason why i am concerned is that if people have raised an issue that a certain cream may bring you out in spots as it is too oily then as she usually says 'dont buy it' if your skin happens not to need an anti ageing cream. i have used this cream and i dont ever come out in huge spots as a result of using any cream. this one i did have a reaction to as did many other users. if alison wanted to refer to the reviews which is up to each presenter then go ahead but not say that something is good for a skin type which is obviously not . in defence of elemis it has many good reviews and if you have dry skin i have no doubt that it would work but if your skin is oily or combination then it will make your skin over active and produce too much spots which no-one wants as it can lead to scarring.

mmm Alison i always spouting off that she would not work on a show if it was selling products she does not believe in :)rolleyes: genie anyone )

off course she would, it is her job to flog off ungents always saying she is the inhouse beauty expert, sorry love you are a salesperson, same as the rest of em.

ok whilst i am in rant mode about allison, i wanna know, why is it if all the fabulous eye creams she flogs work wonders on bags puffiness and dark circles why doesnt she use the, and while she is at it leave some in julia roberts dressing room

i am a mug with eyebags big enough to hold a years supply of tsv's in, and not one of the crappy eye cream have worked. when i hear allison singing the praises of gail hayman stuff i could spit boiled blood :D

At t'end of day, Alison Young would flog SNAKE oil from back of wagon if she was asked...as would probably every other salesperson on QVC.

and this snake oil is actually extracted directly from dennis basso actually:D

The best one I heard was, that you should be able to put the eyecream\gel you are using on the eyelid and directly under the eye (as opposed to just on the orbital bone), and if you cannot do this the product was too rich for you and you needed a less rich product. Was selling a new eye product.

I don't believe anything re beauty products being demonstrated now.

My policy now is checkout Joe Publics reviews & try the cheapest , if it works fine if not try the next price up. There is no shortage of beauty\skincare items out there.

I think it would be interesting if she didnt have to sell the stuff. If maybe she wrote a book or something that could perhaps illustrate her true opinion of products, and not be restricted to those she has to sell. If she stuck with the one's she sells now, then all credit.

I used to think she had integrity - and I probably think she did have in the beginning. Now I think she is probably told what to talk about and doesn't have much choice. For instance, she did not agree with Liz Earle but now talks about the products. Today, I think her audience has not changed much and has stayed with her, and we have heard all she was ever going to say before. There is nothing new. Also I have got fed up with the mixed messages - go natural - don't go natural - product wise. I think she has got stale and needs to go on anther course. She used to be the queen of beauty - but now all she does is shout. She should get back into buying and they should be more selective about their products. To be fair, they have introduced some interesting concepts like Alpha H, which has produced better instant results for me than anything else and Bionova which I have never used. I think her shows would have more integrity if she did the buying. And lets face it - there is nothing out there that is truly anti ageing and I wish she would stop going on about crepey lips or whatever. I don't know - I am just a bit fed up with her and I think she is boring these days.

I used to believe in the hype that AY spoke of. Alison is the same age as me and I have watched her over the years coming out with her stuff about any new product that she is presenting. Alison, was trained by various cosmetic houses, to sell their products and is brilliant at her technique and sales patter. She has it down to an art form. I am very happy with the fact that QVC have a 30 day money back guarantee but i no longer believe her hype.
Alison keeps out of the sun and looks after her skin but is she happy ?
I, have had a completely crazy and hectic life, have drank and smoked and ate rubbish and have also looked after my skin and often not removed my make up, got sunburnt and by rights, i should be a shrivelled wreck by now but i laugh and am happy, not stoic and anal and i have not got any wrinkles, marionette lines or frown lines. I have cried, laughed and abused my skin and yet Alison never looks content to me.
I just think that she needs to take a week off and relax a little more. You can not buy happiness in a £70 jar of face cream. Even if it is on 4 easy payments !

i SO agree with you.

I was watching the 4pm Beauty show yesterday and she clear favours Decleor, she was in raptures over a new aromaesence.

Yes, and these aromaesences are pure oils without preservatives in them - so I'm sure she really does favour them! She might punt all these different products, but you can bet your bottom dollar she only uses the ones without the chemicals in them! As a previous post said, she'd punt snake oil off the back of a wagon: she is a salesperson, and to be fair, different people make different choices - some people don't give a monkeys about the ingredients in things and just look for those which are pleasant to use or those which show positive results on their skin - Alison, as a salesperson, has to take this into account when she's selling.

which is interesting considering that we all douse ourselves in chemicals every day without coming to any harm, and we all (or most of us) are happy to flood our bodies with chemicals when we're ill, because they cure us.

Granted, i dont want to use cheap, harsh rubbish when i go in the shower but i have a problem with the concept that a "plant oil" is any better for me than something else. i'm not a plant, my biological make up bears no resemblance to a plant, so surely plant oil is just as alien to my body as oil made from petrochemicals?

alison young has no more integrity than any other salesperson. her banter is tired, repetative and often contradictory, she is neither attractive to look at or listen to and could do with taking some of her own advice, especially in the hair department. she'll never get the push becuase she sells like a machine and thats what counts.
