Believe it or not that was for real!
This sort of thing happened when they first introduced web bidding; to begin with they let people enter their own name online to appear on the screen but it wasn't long before this facility was abused (surprise, surprise), therefore the online name entry feature had to be quickly replaced with a fixed title like "web bidder" or "new buyer".

I remember once Lisa B was presenting and F***ING C**T from somewhere started scrolling at the bottom, and she was reading the names out and just stopped herself from actually saying it. Lisa being Lisa quickly realised and had a good old laugh about it
