I can see why crafters need to plan ahead but I heard Chuntley mention buying for a Christmas gift during a Kipling hour at the weekend.

FGS! it's only April - would be nice to have break from Christmas until the dreaded July fest at least!!

I agree Frazzled - they shouldnt even start to bring things on tv or into the shops for xmas till at least end of September or October. And as for flipping xmas in July - Nooooo!!!!!

I refuse to buy any xmas presents etc till at least November.

Let us enjoy Spring and Summer at least without using the dreaded C word.

Unless I see something early I know someone would absolutely love, I usually start buying a few bits around September to spread the cost, I'm sure people with large families have to think about it much earlier than that.

It's the "grab every opportunity" commercialism that drives me mad!

I heard debbie greenwood mention on the philosophy TSv about storing it for christmas.

Getting desperate QVC :cheeky:

I wish I could be sensible and buy significantly ahead for crimbo, but i tend to panic at the last minute (and it's hell... ). Maybe, this year I could buy my first pressie this month... not! But seriously, I think Frazzled has the best tactic: buy a few things in September; and the point about having a large family to buy for also makes it important to buy well ahead.

i start buying too in about September.I couldn't afford to do it in one hit in December.

I used to be a bit of a bargain hunter - always looking for stuff for a birthday/christmas stash......now I find it easier to keep my money in my pocket and worry about presents when I need to!

Today is a good example,we have the book people come in.I considered a beautifully wrapped bargain of books for my nephew's birthday.his birthday isn't until dec.I can't really afford them this month, but I knew they were a good bargain.I declined however knowing something will come up again.

So sorry to say but I wouldn't believe anything that woman says anymore.
Recently I heard her say she'd bought a gift of an item she was presenting for a certain someone.
After the event on her twitter the person thanked her, turns out to be nothing like or as expensive as the one she said.
At the weekend whilst on with Ronni Nicole she says if you see me on air in a dress, the chances are it's more than likely a Ronni Nicole.
I do understand it's all about the selling products, but comments like that are not needed in order to make a sale.

I don`t purposely go looking to buy early but if I do see something suitable I`ll buy it no matter when it is (if funds allow) ...I`m not one who buys next years Christmas cards or presents in the January sales though, Last year I didn`t and I was ill in the months leading up to Christmas so all my presents were bought on line I had no choice.

I used to start buying little bits and pieces when my children were really small, ie, young enough to not know about or want the latest trend and used to get these throughout the year and put aside, however, that said, once they started to grow up, I couldn't do that anymore as they changed their mind on what they wanted when a new game/toy came out etc... I do, however, keep a small 'gift' drawer which I fill with small Yankee Candles or small L'Occitane hand creams etc which I find great for using when the need arises.

Cannot stand all the pushiness though of the presenters of 'buy this for such and such, and put it away as it is only £50 etc' or when they tell you to buy 2 or 3 of each item!!
