I love Thornton's Chocolates at Christmas, I like their Brazil nut toffee, their Alpini, their champagne casket, their champagne truffles, their Turkish delights, the diplomats, in fact almost all of them:happy:

That OTO only costs about £26 from Thorntons as they are on 3 for 2 at the moment! You have to pay postage but you can order other things without paying any more postage!!!!

This guest for Thornton's chocolate...does he starve himself before coming on air every time, because he eats more chocolate than anyone, more even than DGreenwood, and thats something:giggle:

I prefer to go to their shop and choose what I like from their counter:happy: Those who have not tried their ice creams, must give them a try, they are yum-yummy!

Dont like all the 'modern' centres i.e. ganache, truffle, gaggy creams and squidgy fruit paste substitute. They all taste the same, and I've certainly yet to taste ANYTHING resembling champagne !!!!

l'm going to start a campaign to bring back PROPER chocolates you can get your teeth into, with PROPER centres of nuts, butterscotch, turkish delight, marzipan, hard caramel, firm strawberry cream, rich coffee cream, nut brittle, mint cream. I know where I am with those, not the promise of something exotic from the 'menu', then discovering its just another indistinguishable truffle.

Sadly its not just Thorntons, they're all at it. There's a whole generation out there who've no idea what its like to actually 'bite' into a chocolate !

I agree brissles.
I used to love Thornton's chocolates when their shops first opened but now they all taste the same.
Someone gave me a box of Dairy Box recently, what a disappointment. They used to be one of my favourites but all the old centres had gone to be replaced by bland paste just given different names.

No hard caramels as they bring my fillings out! I agree that you can 't tell the difference between some chox nowadays. If you want some great chocolate ( it is pricey though) try chocolate from Ramsbottom's chocolate shop. They do do mail order.

It was funny last night Julian was stuffing his face and it cut to a break, came back to studio and Julians face was a picture. One of the girls off camera had given him a glass of water with washing up liquid in it to clean the cutlery used for cutting the chocs, he thought it was a drink for him and took a large gulp :grin It made me chuckle.

I don't like Thorntons at all but it's time for my yearly pre-Christmas Hotel Chocolat order, this has just reminded me of that!

If you want to try an alternative to Thorntons or Lily O'Brien

Thanks FP, had a look, but again, its all truffles, pralines and fudges - and do the CHAMPAGNE ones really taste of champagne ???? like I posted before, the exotic menus look great, but rarely deliver on taste.

Looks like I'll have to stick with my Snickers bar !!!
