Ok bit of a moan from an old grumpy but you can't say 40% of the stock has sold out ..(and gone)
It's only sold out when ALL the stock has gone
Why can't these presenters show a basic grasp of correct terminology?

I don't think any of them sits a grammar test before they start the job. Quite often you hear mangled phrases or words in the wrong tense and I'm sure it's got a lot to do with the voice in their ear that's coming from the gallery telling them things and then them trying to incorporate it into their spiel. It must be hard.
But you can work out what they mean. I think the sold out bit is added for emphasis as they are urging people to buy and not wait, along with all those other silly phrases that put me off............ you're getting, we're giving you (in both cases I'm buying) or worst of all the use the plurals as in 'You've got your blues and your greens etc' when in reality there is one blue and one green

IW presenters drive me nuts when they say that, either say 40% sold or 40% gone why do they need to say sold and gone
