<img src="/images/fryatt.jpg" border="1" alt="Andrew Fryatt" title="Andrew Fryatt" hspace="3" align="right" />Andrew Fryatt is stepping down as Chief Executive and a Director of Ideal Shopping Direct with effect from 10 October 2008.<br /><br />The Company has commenced a search for a new Chief Executive. In the interim period, the senior management team responsible for day to day management of the business will report to David Williams, Chairman, who will assume executive responsibilities.<br /><br />ShoppingTelly.com has campaigned for the resignation of Fryatt for many months, the last communication this site had from Fryatt in January made it very clear that he has no interest in customer comments.<br /><br />Fryatt said: "the simplest thing is just for us to have no further communication with each other, and Ideal Shopping will keep away from shoppingtelly.com."<br /><br />It is the opinion of ShoppingTelly.com that interaction with members gains channels respect, this has been proved time and time again. We understand that every company will have problems from time to time, it's how the issues are handled that is important.<br /><br />Tomorrow Andrew Fryatt's reign of incompetence at Ideal is finally over, hopefully the channel will not make the same mistake again, let ShoppingTelly.com give you a helping hand in your search for a new Chief Executive, Steve Ashton, look no further he is your man!

Andrew Fryatt off

Well who would credit it - the man in charge is no longer. The question is - did he go or was he pushed? The lack of a successor in place leaves the question open, but suggests it wasn't a planned move either way. Whether the board of the Titanic got tired of shouting "iceberg!!" and relieved the captain of his command, or whether he thought "b***er this, I am not cut out for selly telly, who knows. Maybe more will be revealed at a later date?

Maybe next he will run a bank!! ROFL:32:

Phew, what a relief!! My husband says foolish Fryatt was the cause of Ideal's woes. I don't know who Steve Ashton is, but he can't do much worse than poor old Andy Pandy!! What exciting times we live in!!:43:

The French had a Reign of Terror, with Fryatt Ideal had a Reign of Errors! It will be interesting to see if they can get someone to turn the place around, especially in the middle of a recession when value for money is what we are all looking for, and which Ideal hasn't offered under Fryatt's misrule. Paul Wright must be laughing until he wets himself!! :32:

Steve Ashton was firstly a presenter at Gems (the best IMHO), then a manager. He was very popular and maintained a high level of interaction between himself, the customer and the company (he's an ST member). He actually listened to our comments on here, and acted on them. He left Gems a little while ago due to a family crisis, and since then, I think I can speak for many when I say that Gems has really not been the same.

Good suggestion Graham, wonder if he'd be interested, he really knew the meaning of the words 'Customer satisfacton', and went out of his way to maintain good relations between Gems and their buying public.

:doggie:

Thank goodness for that! This man has brought Ideal Shopping to its knees and whilst the current recession can be blamed for more recent problems, his reign at IW has brought them nothing but trouble. Good riddance to him. The graph below won't copy well, but the shares are now wallowing at around 90p. Fryatt took over in 2005 and there has been a steady decline ever since. I wonder how much his pay off will be? Stinking RAT!

Well its about time, IW need someone who will and can revitalise this shopping channel.

I really hope they go for someone with abit of backbone to get the job done.

There are a few people I'd personally like to see go with him! Especially one on C&C!
It would also be nice to see Dean & Carla re-instated!

The departure of this odious man may be the start of a recovery for IW but I wonder if it might be a little too late for the company.

Yeah it would be nice to see those two back (two of the best on there IMO) but I think Carla is too classy and Dean can do so much better than IW!!

Good riddance to Fryatt :32:. Pity he couldn't take a few others with him. Ideal World used to be a really good channel to watch and buy from, with a really good range of products and brilliant presenters. Now we have flea spots and craft rammed down our throats regularly, while they sacked two of the better presenters.

I bet he gets a golden handshake to go as well.

I just hope this will mean a reversal of furtunes for IW and they start getting better as they used to be. It's so sad to watch the presenters struggling to sell the same tat week in and week out. You can only sell so much of the same item can't you.

IW used to sell a lot of tat in the old days but also a lot of half descent items as well.
