I didn't hear the broadcast and wasn't in the studio or gallery but I find it hard to believe someone used the language alleged in the talkback. If true the presenter should have done nothing and complained off air because that is never acceptable language.

It has been reported that both the presenter and the person abusing her were sacked. There was an article by Barbara Ellen in today's Observer titled Speak to me like that and I'd give you the finger too. What she was called was completely unacceptable, IMHO, and I think the company got off lightly in the judgement.
 
Does anyone have footage of the actual incident.....

I can imagine it seemed very random to the viewer, that she would just stick her finger up at the camera for no reason (obviously in hindsight we all know different)

The impression I get is that she was only sacked BECAUSE someone complained.
