I watched five minutes of a beauty show yesterday and the shimmer effect was ridiculous. For a make-up artist (sorry, "expert"), it looked silly. I know it's been mentioned here before but I couldn't find the thread(s).

Ha Ha I know exactly what you mean. She is always heavy handed with the highlighter and it looks awful. I would love to know what she uses on a regular basis just so I can remind myself not to buy that product.

i think its the bobbi brown shimmer brick she must use one a week. it takes a normal user many months if not years

I am all for Q using 'older' models because I am myself ( 'old' NOT & model def. NOT) but some look so awful.I would never at 67 wear as much makeup as Tiffany in the Mally hours & the wrinkles! with all the wonder products available on Q I am constantly surprised at the state of some of the models & guest presenters. They do little IMO for the products they are pushing & many have had 'work done'.

I thought she looked really pretty in the last Mally show last night. Best I've seen her look for months. No dark and wrinkled eye bags. Actually, not a hint of aged looking skin. I honestly thought she looked years younger. :)

You'd be forgiven thinking that AY was auditioning to be the Tin Man in a new production of The Wizard of Oz with the amount of Shimmer Brick she applies to her face.

Beauty Expert? God help us all then.

She makes me feel that I look better so maybe AY does work to make us feel better? Genius! We can stop buying beauty products!

I spotted Mally dabbing on the face defender thing, which took out the heavy highlighter on AY. She looked a hell of a lot better for it.

That eye brightener thing has got really bad reviews on QVC US. It looked awful when Mally was applying it, who wants to have silver/white shimmer on the eye lid, and she was applying it over the eye shadow already on the models. The older lady always looks bad in the Mally makeup.

Did anyone see the Mally show where Ali admitted that Mally sends her messages saying that she looks awful on air sometimes?! She did look good last night and I agree, she looks her best 'Mallyfied'!

Being a 'beauty expert/therapist' doesn't always mean you look good. I have a relative who is one and her make up and hair (although both done to death) are awful. On the other hand, my sister is a freelance make up artist who studied theatrical make up and always looks absolutely amazing (not just being biased!) Most salon girls are trained in so many aspects that they don't specialise in make up, necessarily.

My daughter is studying theatrical & media make up and she and her fellow students all look immaculate (unless their applying prosthetic noses with warts or fake beards on each other!), but less "made up" than the beauty counter ladies in our local shops. She stared speechless at the snail trail effect on Tiffany's eyes yesterday and regularly asks me if AY really is a trained make up artist! She likes some of my Doll10 products so I keep having to retrieve them from her kit bag!

Does Ali claim to be a trained makeup artist then? I've heard her reel off the list of places she has worked but only ever noticed her saying she is a beauty therapist expert and trainer.

Snail trail effect!!! lmao... yes, that was definitely what it looked like. Now, I am NOT a beauty expert, BUT even I know that when you use a 'highlighter' it is just that!!! it HIGHLIGHTS......SO.... WHY would you then put it over wrinkles/crows feet and EMPHASIZE them!!!!! :mysmilie_13:

Crikey Boffy I use Shimmer Brick too, 'nectar' in winter and 'Bronze' in the summer when I have more colour. I don't look like AY, she must absolutely plaster it on! I have had both of mine three years and they are still going strong. AY needs to be reminded of the phrase 'less is more' I think.

No Cariad, as far as I am aware she is a beauty therapist, like the ones you find in a salon/spa. She has obviously received training in make-up, but I don't think it's her speciality somehow! I may be wrong however...

She used to apply makeup to the models, and slapped and poked at them. The Sales Assistants at the local cosmetic counter would do better, and they are not trained makeup artists*.

*Some are, but most have just the basics.

Yeah I remember her applying balance n brighten to a model during a generic beauty hour when Laura Geller wasn't there, gosh she looked like she was rubbing the poor girls skin off with the ferociousness of her brush action!

What irritates me most is the vast amount of mascara she applies and her ****** fringe that is too long getting attaching to it and flicking up and down every time she blinks. It's so distracting! :mysmilie_51:
