What happened to a romantic dinner for two and a red rose? Gems are really going over the top this year and I imagine it might be somewhat irksome to their single customers. What next when Valentine's Day has passed - may I suggest St. David's Day?

Couldn't agree more! It's dreadful and started just after New Year! I particularly HATE with a passion the heart shaped red ring boxes they're flogging. Eugh - cheap and tacky.

The vile red rose ones on a bleedin stalk are even worse!! :YIKES: :pPC:

Oh I agree and have not watcted much as it has put me off, so the chances of me buying from them are slim.

It is not a holiday like Christmas or Easter so why all the fuss.

Call me unromantic but I hate velentine's day and everything it is supposed to represent.:28:

There is nothing spontaneous or romantic about it at all imo,the attempt to force people into spending money to supposedly show how much you care........yuk!!!

What about the other 364 days????:54:

To me and my hubby it's just another day,we say we love one another everyday regardless so why should Feb 14th be any different?

My fiance and I just buy a card. It's just become so overcommercialised that I think it's almost becoming naff.
Also I agree that for singletons, it must be getting really irritating!

I think the original intention was that this day be used as an opportunity for shy people to tell the person they were interested in that they had an admirer. This was all done on a strictly personally made card. What a shame that such a gentle thing should turn into this pressurised commercial nightmare. I'll bet this day is the cause of more rows between couples than any other.

Considering some of the recent offerings from Gems, I wouldn't rule it out Mrs Mad!

I also think it is bad for people who are going through a seperation or divorce or have recently lost someone they love. GemsTV have really gone OTT with this IMVHO.
