"Who is not happy with the "old" chit/chat room Idea

ShoppingTelly

Help Support ShoppingTelly:

I occasionally drop by to visit RocksTV. I do like the idea of the separate rooms. If you want to buy, the chat is now clear for rock talk. The other room is free for other chat. Seems good to me and I might stop by more often now.

Well I've just been in for a look, totally open minded, and I think it's divisive. I'm almost an original customer but had to "sign in" that I have read the rules blah de blah and that I'll be a good girl (or at least that's how it came over). The "buzz" has gone out of chat in both rooms, nobody to help newbies, and it's impossible (for me anyway) to follow both rooms and the presenter. I used to like to chat about jewellery and general stuff, and listen to the presenter at the same time, even though it did get a bit mad from time to time.

I could be completely wrong, but given this on top of techie probs, and very little stock variety it looks like I's stuck with Gemenhams for the time being. Ah well, everything in life changes, and no firms have customers for life these days. Those that get lost along the way will no doubt be replaced by others.

i don't chat much but do have a read and a giggle whilst waiting for new and interesting items which are few and far between :( but i logged out when the staff started telling chatters off for not talking about the jewels....can't be ar**d with being treated like that.

It seems as though there's been some sort of dodgy "event". PLEASE can someone enlighten me, can't stand missing any goss.

you can still interact with the presenters on jewellery related chat though can't you? on the normal chat room, just not on random chat, is that how its now working? if that is the case i don't think rocks tv see you as second class at all, i am sure they are just trying to keep all customers happy, old and new. :)

Yeah GD - technically you can, but the switch is so slow by the time you've got from one room to another your point may be irrelevant and the item sold.

I'm so with you on that Mrs J, it's an adult site and I mean agewise not 'x'wise. We are not there to replace staff. Whilst of course happy to help newbies or anyone in doubt, and to recommend pieces, I'll not have it taken for granted or ordered.

If the party planners start dictating what their guests can/cannot discuss, that's gonna die a premature death.

Well I popped in for a looky prompted by this thread - I spent a fortune on a ring elsewhere last week and I've been avoiding Rocks coz I'm broke!
First thoughts - it's not great. It's confusing, even more so with the chat being shuffled from one room to another. And it's a huge shame not to be allowed to chat to the presenter.
Having said that, I can totally understand that maybe they don't want the presenters being distracted with long conversations about other people's ailments and favourite bars of chocolate or whatever.
HOWEVER - I feel I have to add that I can't believe how childish the reaction has been from grown adults. Instead of contacting Steve by email and explaining the above, it's been like watching 3 year olds having a tantrum at Tesco because they can't have chocolate. The huffing and outrage has been way over the top - it's not like chat is gone, it's just moved to another room. Fair enough, people are not pleased, people seldom like change. And as I say, I don't like it either! But organising a chatroom revolution just all seems too petty considering that more peaceful methods of getting things changed back haven't even had time to be tried.
This by the way is an overall impression, I am not picking out any individuals, and of course everyone has a right to react as they see fit. But frankly, it smacks of blackmail and I can imagine it will end with no Rocks Chat at all.
I'd have thought that a reasoned discussion on a thread like this being brought to Steve's attention would have far more chance of the reverse in policy everyone wants.
I also got the impression that people are taking the whole thing far too personally, I seriously doubt it's meant as the major insult to their old customers that many seem to take it for.
Okay, now you all hate me I'll shut up!

Events that stopped me buying from Rocks:

1. The replace my returns with my returns and the more important thing was, INSISTED that they were different items. I am not an expert, but I do recognize my own gems! If I decided to return them for a replacement, I must have examined them thoroughly!!! I was furious, emailed John and though emails are answered politely there was actually no solution.

2. Less exciting new jewelry...I know loose gems are pretty and exotic, but set jewelry is also important...I see colour change garnets being set, where are the colour change andesine jewelry? Where are the peacock pearl hoop earrings that Sarah promised me months ago here on the forum and again over a month ago in chat? She said it would be a few weeks on both occasions. Well, it's been a few months now. I hope it's not going to be a few years?

3. The time when I said that's a fire quartz and not strawberry quartz, (I was told by ppl who have stream) Barry said he's not familiar with the gem and so he's not sure about it. HOW ON EARTH can you sell something you are not sure of? I guess I can't blame on the presenters about that, but Steve, learn the originals not the nicknames please. I know fire quartz is nicknamed strawberry quartz but it is NOT strawberry quartz!!! I know I am just a customer and can be replaced at any time and I am not an expert but that doesn't mean I know absolutely nothing!

And now they've got this splitting chat room. OK, so dividing topics of interest is important. Not to talk about it from our point of view, coz we are customers and all your center is about money. So let's talk about it from Rocks' POV. What does nobody to help with the newbies and if something comes up nobody is saying "It's pretty I have that" mean? And what does no more interaction, including sometimes making fun, with the presenters mean? It means LOWER SALES. The "normal" jewelry chat room is not entertaining anymore, as we all go to chit-chat and chat off ourselves and since we can't interact with presenters we just ignore them. It means LESS MONEY Steve, not MORE.

Hi PQ,

I think if it had been dealt with better, people would've been less offended. A brief warning email, roughly explaining wouldn't have been too tough a job. People take this stuff personally because they've been encouraged to feel personally involved in the whole set-up.

Still luvs ya.

I just think the point I've been trying to make has been missed along the way....
My point was that the 2 chat rooms is an old idea from when rockstv first started last year, and didnt work the first time around! so can't see it working a second time.
It doesn't seem to be doing sales any favours tonight.:33:

We don't hate you PQ!!!

I think you make some very valid points, Steve, John, Tony, Katherine etc... always say they are happy to receive e-mails from people so it would be better if people contacted them and then they could see exactly what people like or don't like and from there try and make changes if they can.

Personally the change of the chat doesn't bother me, only annoyance in my opinion is having to tick the box accepting the chat conditions everytime I log in.

Someone mentioned a lack of new items, they had several this afternoon :)

PQ.. No hard feelings here, we still luvs ya, We all have different views and opinions here, dosent mean we hate you tho :)

PQ we always love you :)
And since I'm VIP now and I've got the icon you can drool all over my kunzite ring all the time ROFL

Maybe if Steve or John had posted on here explaining their intention to re-introduce 2 rooms with their reasons a lot of the bad feeling tonight might've been prevented. Possibly it could've been interactive with one of them on hand to respond to our concerns, questions etc and then we might've understood their point of view and they might've appreciated ours.

I'll admit there are times when I can't be bothered with the chat ...when it goes completely off at a tangent or when people discuss, IMO, things that are way too personal but I don't think having 2 rooms is the answer ... it didn't work before and don't think it will this time.

Aw, bless you all, thanks for not tearing me to shreds!

Argey, definitely agree that they could have handled the switch MUCH better.

Mira - point taken too, not sure it's going to work at all. If I remember correctly, last time was actually because it was requested due to one or two annoying off-topic chatters! When they were banned/left, it seemed to just die out before it was finally removed. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened again. Sorry I missed the point first time around!

PQ we love you - how are you? Haven't seen you for a while?

BH, I'm good hun, have just been avoiding Rocks recently due to major overspend on eBay! Hope you're well too. Still on the wagon? Must be, haven't seen a haul for a while!

PQ we always love you :)
And since I'm VIP now and I've got the icon you can drool all over my kunzite ring all the time ROFL

Drooling already hun, not sure it's good for my envy level to see it every day mind you!!!

I now feel thoroughly loved, so thank you all again! And I love you all right back! Mwah mwah! Later!

I cannot believe the "chat" I have read on Chit Chat this last hour or so.....

I am stunned at how childish, for want of better word, some people are being and horrified at the way some have upset others.

I briefly popped in and when I caught sight of the chat quickly exited! Have no idea what was going on, but there seemed to be a lot of hurt feelings about. It's bad enough trying to get your point across on here sometimes without upsetting somebody, but on a site like that things get written down quickly and can come out wrong. Then they get misinterpreted and it all kicks off! Surely Chat won't remain on for long at this rate?
