JML GmbH, a subsidiary of JML (the consumer brand and multi UK shopping channel), launched its first European shopping station on the Astra satellite.

JML Shop beamed into over five million German homes from the 31st of July 2009. It means that JML is available to other consumers across Europe.

JML Shop broadcasts on the Astra APS satellite. The company has signed a deal to occupy the slot for five years.

Initially targeting Germany, JML plans to extend its reach throughout the continent. The satellite signal reaches eight countries including Austria, Belgium, France and Holland.

Martin Purcell, Chief Operating Officer of JML GmbH says: “Buying this slot means German customers can tune into the best JML has to offer. The satellite’s reach means we’ll be able to extend the same format into much of Europe.”

The channel will initially promote a range of products from JML’s range, including food products like the Halogen Oven, DIY tools such as the Total Trimmer and wellness products such as Tru Colour Sunglasses. Each product will be promoted with a 30 minute infomercial. All are dubbed in German and will run for twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

Ken Daly, Group Managing Director of JML commented: “Increasing our already sizeable presence in the German home shopping market strengthens JML’s position as a global direct response player. The company’s dominant position in the UK is complemented by a growing role in Europe, making JML an attractive partner for direct response companies the world over.”
