I remember when i was really young (many, many moons ago lol) I did enjoy the build up towards christmas - at home we used to make our own paper chains, with the coloured paper, and you had to lick the gum (tasted awful) and link them all up, we would sit there, in literally a little chain gang, licking and sticking like maniacs, watching the chain grew longer and longer! and then we would walk up to the woods, and get the holly, mum used to tell us to look for the holly with the most berries on - i always got stabbed by the leaves lol. And then we used to go to the market for the real mistletoe, which was hung over the main front door. Also we would be given logs, about one foot long, split in half, and my dad would have drilled a hole on the top of the log, so that when you turned it on its flat side, the hole was in the curved top, the hole was big enough for a candle, and we would put glue on the log, and cover it with glitter, and small baubles on pipe cleaners, and hey presto one cheap and cheerful table decoration! we did that with pine cones, use white cotton thread, and cover the pine cone in glue dip in glitter, and when dry, shake off excess, glue on feathers, and beads and use anything shiney and glittery, and hey preston, angels, fairies and doves! and we made bells from the cardboard egg cartons - kept us entertained and out of mischief for days. lol xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx i used to love haloween when we were little too, as we would make paper lanterns, as well as the pumpkin lanterns - those were the days eh? lol xxxxxxxxx
