Help Support ShoppingTelly:

Just sent a text in for you Sacha. Call me cynical but Sarah Lou only appears to be doing requests for the high end stuff :(
Thank you both so much for your help, but you're right she is showing dearer requested stuff......this commission payment thing again, d'ya think?

Very pretty. I didn't see the pendant, but there was a nice red diamond trilogy ring last week , I think. Can't remember how much it went for, but that was the first time I had seen a red diamond.

More of the same trouble with ignored texts I see...

FINALLY! Sarah Lou has just confirmed that they're now out of stock. However, Sacha, somebody may not check out so phone the CS team or PS tomorrow as early as you can because I suspect there will be others on the phone too. x

Ah...many thanks for that Meesh, missed that....was just getting some lunch. Will contact them again tomorrow, they should already have my email as well. Again my thanks to you and Cherub for your help this morning. xx

Look forward to seeing your 'transplanted' red diamond in due course.

Hi Meeshoo, with all these wonderful coloured diamonds you can buy nowadays (noticed gems was selling chocolate diamonds and a something green diamond - cant remember the name) i noticed TJC inform you that a black diamond is enhanced. I was wondering if this goes for all the coloured diamonds - i am just so intrigued as to how they discovered all these lovely colours. I really like the pink diamond and the cognac ones too xxx thank you xx

Typically the ones you see selling on the television channels are enhanced by irradiation (unless they say they're natural). Irradiated diamonds come in red, pink, blue, yellow, green and black. All black diamonds are irradiated. Browns/champagnes and other fancy names for brown diamonds are usually natural but not worth much.

Obviously natural diamonds are worth much more than enhanced diamonds and the colour is due to the chemical makeup. It is reasonably easy however to find natural yellow diamonds and of course, the more yellow the more £ you pay! Natural pinks in small sizes can be found also but when you start getting to .5ct upwards they become more difficult to source. Not impossible but more difficult.

Reds, blues and natural greens are very rarely seen apart from being sold by specialist dealers and then cost ££££££££££££££££££.

Please beware however, coated diamonds are unfortunately being seen more now. As far as I'm aware they're not being sold at Gems, TJC etc. However, Ebay is swamped with them. With coated diamonds, only the pavillion is coated and this can be scratched off fairly easily. You would think that as it's only the pavillion that's coated you'd be able to spot them fairly easily but unfortunately that's not the case. I think I posted up pictures of a natural, irradiated and coated pink diamond once before so if you do a search you might be able to find it. Also on Ebay you'll find diamonds that have been filled and clarity enhanced by lasers. Again, stay away as their stability is questionable.

Hope that helps.

Meeshoo, many thanks for the information, very interesting. And thanks for the warning about coated diamonds. xxxxx

Bumped up....UPDATE......on red diamond pendant

Just to let you know and thank you for the original heads-up about these little beauties. A couple of days of patient waiting and one then turned up on the website.....which I immediately snaffled! Its now safely tucked at chez moi and I am chuffed to bits!. Its very much like the piccy of yours with lovely glints of scarlet and orange in the best light. My first red diamond...............:mysmilie_735.gif:

Many thanks for all the help from you luvley peeps on here.

I had 2 and returned one Sacha - I hope you got it!!! I was desperate to get a message to you but the forum was down :( Anyway, all's well that ends well. Many congratulations.

In that case Meesh I owe you a double
thanks.gif

Hey......does that mean yours is better than mine?? mysmilie_1436

Nope! I had two that were identical and in fact the one I sent back was the one in the photograph so if you look closely you'll see if it is the same one! :)

With thanks again........

I think folks were still requesting red diamonds the following day as I heard Steve M saying they were very hard to get hold of and they were now out of stock. So when I (on the off chance) later keyed in the product code on the website and found just the one available, I was very pleased.
Serendipity methinks! mysmilie_1436
