Make sure you don't miss Rocks and Co today from 2pm - 6pm to catch Tony Diniz, Gem Hunter extraordinaire, this will include the launch of Blueberry Quartz from 5pm.

Hailing solely from the Montezuma Quartz Mine in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Blueberry Quartz has only been available since January 2007. This gem is aptly named 'Blueberry Quartz' to perfectly describe its vivid blueberry colour. Incredibly scarce due to the characteristics of the rock where it is found, Blueberry Quartz comprises less than 0.01 percent of Brazil's total production of Quartz gemstones. This scarcity is further complicated by extraction difficulties; the mine is over 150 metres deep and very damp. Now for the bad news... the Montezuma Quartz Mine has not produced any Blueberry Quartz for six months leading some to believe it's now depleted. With an everyday durability and a deliciously sounding name, it's easy to fall for the affordable fruity hues of Blueberry Quartz.

Today's other highlights include Alexandrite Jewellery and Santa Rosa Tourmaline Jewellery.

So join Tony Diniz and Victoria Burton LIVE on Freeview 40, Sky 642 or watch online at www.rocksandco.com.

Well! I never thought I'd see the day when someone was more expensive than QVC but true to form, Rocks & Co have managed it!

QVC have been selling Blueberry Quartz for years and before anyone questions it, it's from exactly the same mine!

As an example of Rocks & Co's ridiculous pricing:-

Rocks & Co

QVC

Yesterday I watched for a short time purely out of curiosity. The Gruesome Twosome were on (Diniz and Burton) and their prices were ridiculously high. Ceylon Sapphire about £400 more expensive than similar carat weight Iliana on TJC. Paraiba Tourmaline again far more expensive than TJC and in my opinion a poor colour compared to TJC. Of course the gold weights were around one third of what you get from TJC too. They just can't compete at all with TJC.

Sorry but no matter how much brain washing about how rare everything is and how Rocks & Co gems are better than everyone else, the truth is they are not! I feel very sorry for anyone who actually believes their patter because is it nothing but a very poor sales pitch geared at those who have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever!

Were they selling at that price Klos?
It's such a shame - I used to love their jewellery and bought quite a bit. I stopped buying after their CS let me down one too many times and now they have really priced themselves out of the market for me.
There do seem to be plenty of people willing to pay their prices though. Maybe, now that Gemstv have gone so downmarket, they have decided to go for the more upmarket audience who maybe on principle wouldn't buy from a channel that was selling things cheaply. Sounds a bit barmy to me, but could that be an explanation?

Hi

I watched as well over the weekend and I could not believe the prices for ceylon sapphire, PTs. The one that really amazed me was the price for a Colombian emerald. For 1.3ct they wanted over £7,000 at one point, I think that the price dropped to about £3,000. The gold weight I think was under 3gms with a few points of diamonds. I turned over at this point.

R&C know that you can buy Rhapsody, Iliana or certified emerald on TJC 3A/4A clarity with the knowledge that the stone is the real deal with diamonds and heavier gold weight.

Mr Diniz was on about quality of the emerald being the best that you can buy. Also said that and a lady J who buys lots of his jewellery and comes back for more. This person must have more money than sense.

It's such a shame as Gems TV jewellery has gone down in quality and design. R&C have nice designs at silly prices. I don't understand who they are trying to reach or who would buy jewellery that is probably on par with high street prices.

Completely agree, never watch any more, just silly prices.I did buy a silver blueberry quartz from QVC,It was very unimpressive,a rather dull amethyst lookey liky but it was cheap so I kept it.
This just looks like amethyst to me despite what the Gruesome Twosome hype on about.

They were saying that Blueberry Quartz is a cross between Tanzanite and Amethyst. Can't see the likeness with a Tanzanite - it looks like an Amethyst to me. If I wanted a blue gem, I'd buy a Tanzanite. If I wanted a mauve gem I'd buy an Amethyst.

Blueberry quartz is amethyst - a particular (and attractive) shade of amethyst, but amethyst nonetheless. I bought a blueberry quartz pendant from Gems TV a while ago, and it looks exactly like... amethyst.

I will never give up entirely on Rocks & Co as I do love their designs, and not everything is a silly price, but I'm sorry to see that their prices - which were getting more reasonable towards the end of 2009 - seem to have shot up again.

I've been saying that about Gems for a while Miss M, but it seems that the death knell for my pathetic loyalty and hope, just tolled. (She dramatically leaves stage right with back of hand to forehead). xxxxxx
