Richard Jackson's Flower Power TSV

Is this really as good as the reviews state? I have lots of tubs and baskets during the summer and must admit they were disappointing last year. I am tempted by this but the high P&P is putting me off.........anyone want to convince me that it would be money well spent?

it is very good value for money and i dont think the £4.95 postage is bad when the 750G postage is £3.95

yeah but normally buyin 2 of the little ones means the postage is a lot more and from what i`ve seen this is a very good deal

It would be worth trying a rose or tomato fertiliser first. They are high in potash which is needed to promote fruit and flowers. You will find lots of brands in garden centre, B&Q etc but I use Wilko's own make for a couple of quid and it does the job, I've had lovely busy lizzies and begonias.

Thanks for that tip.......£2 against £25 is a whopping difference!

I'm afraid QVC's resident "gnome on speed" puts me off buying anything along the gardening line. I know a lot of the female presenters come in for a lot of flack, BUT the continual armwaving and overexaggerated gushing about a few plants irritates me beyond belief, - and dont get me started on the self promotion of his products - if they are so wonderfully marvellous and productive why dont B & Q, Homebase and garden centres stock them ????

It's completely over-rated, Busy - by QVC of course!
I used it last year and can't say it did anything special for my garden.

oddly enough the high street does depend a lot on vfm something qvc does not.just some folk who will buy anything for any price as long as the sales pitch is good.

regarding the price scw methinks that for the price of the postage you could buy the 2 best quality fertilisers on the market phos..o..n and miracle g...w both are recommended by gardening which. all which are large enough to last you a year or more.
no i dont think £25 is a good price for fertiliser.
also i must add that they are selling it before you would get to try it under the 30 day mbg a bit cheeky...
oh and anather thing :mysmilie_61: arnie rainbow compares flower powers results with unfed plants anather bit of humbug!

My thoughts exactly, you put it so well. As far as I can see he does not have the encyclopedic knowledge of gardening he and QVC would have us believe. I was reading the Thompson & Morgan catalogue yesterday and some of the wording was familiar - does RJ write their text or does he borrow it ?

This is a well known and popular tomato food which is also recommended for flowering plants:

Just found this, I've not tried it (but will this summer) but I do use other Miracle-Gro products, they are very reputable:

To be honest I just cannot think what extra ingredient RJ has added to his flower power to make them better than these.

Oh well do I care :mysmilie_697: I bought the tsv last year and used with spray and grow. I did notice that the plants I used these showed more flowers/fruit and they were indeed larger so I will say it works. Had lots of comments from neighbours and friends how lovely my pots and baskets looked. Does that convince you

Richard Jackson used to be the gardening expert on LBC (radio) many years ago, he always recommended using tomato food to feed plants as it was 'more economical and did a great job'. :mysmilie_697:

Definitely worth buying, I tried another well known brand last year and it wasn't nearly as good as Flower Power, have purchased TSV!

Well my Mum has ordered it before and swears by it. In fact she woke me up this morning as last night I asked her what she wanted for her Birthday and lo and behold, RJ comes on at midnight with his TSV and she is actually excited! She has been gardening for 50 years and is as frugal (actually, tight arsed) as they come, but knows a good deal when she sees one. She has bought the smaller one before, so I know it's not just coz it's my money this time!

I don't rate RJ as a gardener, some of the plants I've had have been OK but lots have been very poor. When a T caller asks a question he often can't answer it and just repeats the things he's just said. I have no faith in him at all, the only good plants I've had came from the specialist they sometimes have on.
