MINI RANT BEGIN:

In the immortal words of the great Victor Meldrew "I don't believe it"..
If I wasn't sure of the date I would think it was the first of april and they were having a laugh.

Some (if not all) of the prices for the products on this show are absolutely disgustingly way over the top. These products are for people who need help with day to day living and many don't have access to ready cash to pay what they are asking (even charging p+p) you can get these items much cheeper (if not free) elsewhere/NHS.

Example1:Easy Hold Cup and Plate Set - £24.99 + £4.99 P&P 1cup 1plate Your aving a laugh surely:mysmilie_19:

Example2: Pack of 2 Long Handled Sponge - £22.99 + £4.99 P&P 2 bits of sponge stuck on the end of a stick What the?.....

I could go on but I wont. I've calmed down a bit . I was just horrified at the prices they had the bare faced cheek to ask and had to get it of my manly chest:tongue:.

I for one won't be purchasing ANY of what they had to offer (even though I'm in the position to use some of them) and nor will ANY member of my family for me.

Awful, awful. Not very ideal I'm afraid:down:

Back to lurk mode.

Don't forget the 'Cordless Kettle Tipper' for £39.99 and £5.99 P&P!! Did you see that? It was just like a bit of coated wire.....they probably cost less than £1 to make! lol

- The only way I can see how it is justified is, that on Ideal World, many of the products they sell come from people, instead of IW going out to find products. I know the kind of amount they have to pay, and lets just say it isn't cheap!! - For this reason, as it is a neche market, they need to get as much money as possible, and this is the only way! :) ( Also, IW would get more if the mark up was higher, so they wont complain! lol)

Yes I did! :giggle:, and what a disgraceful price they have the gaul to ask.
To that end, I am in the middle of making my own homemade version consisting of 4 metal wire coat hangers and some white spray paint  (I might end up in A/E when I test it though).

In my eyes it can and never will be justified no matter what, it's just plain greed to me, simple.

Preying on the one of the most vulnerable sections of society is disgusting, they might as well wear a mask and hold a gun to peoples heads like highwaymen did.

Ahhhhh! I dont know, I know I don't have to watch the channel but, I thought they might have something of use to me at a reasonable price, but no I have to make my own homemade versions :smirk:.

Dreadful,dreadful I'm afraid.

After reading it back to myself, what I wrote, may have been seen in a way I didn't want it to be seen. - I said 'justified', which was the wrong choice of word, I should have said something like ''The only way I can see why they had such a high selling price...'' but I 100% agree with you that this sort of thing should either a) not be on the channels, or b) Reduce the prices by atleast 1/2, or even 2/3.

- If it isn't financially viable for them to sell it for 1/2 the price, it just shouldn't be sold.

Did they mention anywhere about people who are registered disabled being able to claim back or not pay the VAT?

i would doubt it but as i was out today i didnt see it...also my hubby was out getting me another bathboard / another reacher & longer handled shoe horn......HIM of all people said "did i know that as i have a disease thats incurable he didnt have to pay VAT" .......yes said, I hence why i was spitting feathers at some items on some web site selling diabled items to help us/ those that need it. that said how can they regulate who just needs temp help & those like myself that needs it to i get into my final box ???

As a nurse I work with people with varying disabilities. The prices were on par with some specialised companies, but what I thought was awful was the way that pair of idiots were patronising to the people they wanted to well to. Poor uncle ****** Cyril I hope is is no longer with us but up in the betting shop in the sky - OMG. Let's have races round the dining table with our rotators . They were like the 2 windy up grannies you get in the novelty shops. Shame on them

Well all of you are computer savvy.

Why not look on E-bay or elsewhere?

No matter what it is, I only ever buy from a shopping channel after I have done a thorough web search first.

Let your fingers do the walking.
