Hi everyone, this is my first post, so please be gentle:happy:. I have recently become very disnechanted with JM. The post fiasco, the shouty presenters, the interminable 'demos' the same old same old, the change in the format of the kits, the constant referral to carats instead of mm and of course, who can forget the 'exciting' new studio and constant reference to building works fiasco. I have been a jewellery maker myself for over 8 years and earn my living at it. If I were to treat my customers as idiots, I would have starved long ago:cake:! They might learn a thing or two about presentation, postage and giving information if they, dare I say, refer themselves to Creat & Craft and create and image of professionalism instead of the 'I'm on the tv to amuse myself and my friends' sort of thing we have at the moment. Sorry, that went a bit ranty didn't it:blush:. I'll get better.

Hi and welcome Supersandy. No worries about the rant, JM has reduced many of us to it. Say what you feel here, that's what it's for. xx <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D4%252F4%255F2%255F205%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_205.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D4%252F4_2_205%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

Hi Supersandy. I too am new here and posted last week about my anger and resentment of JM. I used to watch JM every single day and if I had to go out, then it was recorded. I then found I was recording it more and more as then I could fast forward through all the irrelevant stuff and stop when I seen a gemstone strand I was interested in or a demo which looked interesting, especially the wire work demo's. I now do not record at all and simply go on the website to see whats on offer each day- there is life outside JM lol. Even the demo's have become boring as certain presenters make the time about them and keep interrupting with stupid stuff like what their kids did etc, I often shout at the tv telling them to shut up and let the designer get on with it. I sometimes sit on the laptop at night looking for late show bargains on the live feed, but with no sound on. I find the presenters at night are very very shouty- they do not need to do that, normally the strands sell themselves. If you like them, you buy them and do not need to be pressurised into it. It is also annoying that they have stopped giving the breakdown of the kits on the web, instead we get beautiful flowery descriptions. when JM helpers page is asked about this, they say the comments have been passed on and noted but still the non descriptions come. JM helpers say you can phone the help desk to find out what is in the kits- now why they hell would you do that! you are shopping on the web for ease and convenience, but to find out what is in the kit you need to phone up. Oh I would love to shake them all up lol sorry for my rant to :)

Hello and welcome *wave* I think it is good for The Bennet's to see it is not just old timers like me who are unhappy it is fresh people too (not that I am saying anyone is stale before I get myself in my trouble :p)

sorry, peeps:doh i couldn't get back into the website. Thank you for all your comments, speshally as you seem to agree:nod: It gets worse though. The items we ordered nearly 3 weeks ago, arrived in a big lump. Postie was NOT a happy bunny!

I'm new and have mostly posted on the QVC thread. I used to watch JM all the time and have bought several things from them but somewhere along the way it changed somewhat, they took ages to get to stuff and I got bored listening to the chit chat. Shame because it put me off.

Hi, SuperSandy I too am new and greatly enjoying it! On the subject of JM it annoys me how they're always referring to quote : THAT big craft store. ( we all know they mean Hobbycraft). I use that store and at least you can see the quality and SIZE of the products before you buy, and I've always found them good value for money!

I think they've completely lost the plot since they grew so rapidly. Their treatment of people who dare to give honest feedback on Facebook is one of their worst traits - they ban them!!! I also think they've forgotten the meaning of the word "ethics" -they quite often pass on misleading information, particularly on the issue of plated versus flash coated findings, and the presenters quite simply witter about things when they don't know (eg the time when one was asked by an American viewer about the difference between a yard and a metre, to which she answered with conviction that she thought a metre was quite a bit shorter ! The behind the scenes team didn't even find out the correct info for her. Poor, lazy, self-indulgent television. And as for the singing (or in Carol's case caterwauling) - if they're that obsessed with their own voices why don't they go on to the stage instead of shopping telly!!! Sorry - another rant over!!!

Just wanted to add, Auddel, that when I phoned to find out the length of a spinel strands the person I spoke to couldn't answer the question. She had as little info as I had on the website. It is assumed that because we have been told once that a strand is so many mm long that everyone knows this. Instead of all the twaddle they talk the staff at JM would be advised to put more meaningful info on the graphics - like length of strand, etc. It would also be helpful to have itemised details when you buy a kit. I have some in a drawer that I can't recall what the stones are and no details were provided. Apologies - end of rant.

I haven't ordered from JM for a while.I decided that, being as I have a week of holiday from work, a bit of jewellery making would be pleasant. Two strands of beads and a few lots of findings were ordered last week from JM which I'm still waiting for.Today I ordered sterling silver wire, sheet, solder, and findings from Cooksongold. The wire was much better priced than at JM.It will all be here tomorrow as my order was placed before 5pm.P&p first class £2.65.There is a choice of delivery prices depending on what you want.Signed, recorded etc. It's
worth a look and if you use Miyuki seed beads,I believe they are a good price at CG. I have used Cooksongold and JM for a long time but as this is the first order made for ages I didn't realise how much larger the range at CG seems to have got .

Hello and a warm welcome to new users, i am relatively new also and love this forum, I ordered a strand of large pear shaped mookite earlier in the year,as a new customer they managed to cock up the order and when rectified after numerous calls from me it arrived almost two weeks later and the combination of colours was not the greatest,my following order was sent back as it was awful etc, i havent ordered anything since as i have found much better quality from online beading sites, including an excellent one named the beadshop and also beadsdirect and the curiousgem whose findings are excellent, all companies have swift postage and good selection and no fuss. I have read lots of reviews from established customers asking what on earth is going on, i mean what beadshop doesnt list the length of a strand on the webiste and the prices seem to have crept up also, as for the presenters well, some of them arre asolutely dire and obviously couldnt get any work elsewhere, hammy over acting and shock surprise and shouting doesnt do it for me.

I think many of the presenter problems you are describing (validly in my opinion) can be explained by the notion that channels like this will generally only be able to attract presenters that will apply to be on jm tv just to be on tv... they have no genuine interest or knowledge on what they are selling, so they have to fill the time by talking about something they do know (themselves)

they then use this to try and build a fanbase to bring with them if they ever move higher up the selly telly food chain.

the people that suffer are the customer.

Having only been watching and buying from Jewellery Maker for about 3 months and already getting fed up with a certain presenter. She's always kissing, hugging and stroking the designers, it's really off putting.

The way she behaves with the male designer is really off, I ended up turning off the other night coz I couldn't stand the back massaging, kissing, stroking and suggestive comments. No other presenter is like this and really think she should cut it out and present like the rest of them.

Rant over.:mysmilie_11:

I confess i dont really watch as i source my gemstones from an online site as the service and the stones are much better. However i do have the odd flick through the shopping channels, i think the presenter you mentioned was possibly Zena, personally i never liked her when she presented on The Lounge at gems tv, so artificial and i have seen her behave in the way you describe on jewellerymaker, quite frankly it makes me feel rather sick, i suspect she gets away with it as she is Mr.Bennetts cousin, personally i wouldnt employ on any selly telly at all.

Hello I am pleased there are people coming on here now and again. I am furious with JM I ordered on Saturday some faux suede backing The order is still being processed Ive been in touch A young man informed me it takes up to 4 to 6 working days delivery I mentioned it hadn't even left JM yet I will receive this probably the end of next week. I was furious. Steve Bennett sold JM to The Immediate Media Co. 2yrs ago thats why they now sell Silver chains endlessly and Swarovski Crystal. I dislike Carol who just can't communicate at all also Becky I don't know how she even got the job so full of herself. I think the Presenters are failed actors. Nice to meet you all on here I will be back....

Unfortunately you are not alone in complaining of poor service in regard to despatch delays, there are many complaints on the reviews and on the facebook page and the customers seem to have been complaining for months and it doesnt seem the company have done much to improve the service.
