Remember all the sales spiel a few years ago on air, that Tanzanite had about 10 years worth of supply left ? and were rarer than diamonds etc etc well in my reckoning the ten years must shortly be up !
BUT, I've just watched an auction channel, offering a AAA tanzanite (?) ring, but get this, it was set in gold plated silver !!!!! for less than £200, so no shortage of the gem if it can be mounted in an inferior metal. I know it has to be taken with a pinch of salt, but I can't help wondering that if these gems (whatever quality) are being debased in this way, then what price are those that we paid for all those years ago due to the spiel of QVC ?
