I see Ideal have been at their old tricks again on trustpilot, they have gone from 2.5 to 3.1 in a matter of a few days with the verified invited reviews and many are 5 stars but read different mentioning missing items, slow delivery and several mention spending up tp £50 on phone calls to order or get and update on delivery.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

It really strange though, they have been on Trust Pilot for a few years and have only amassed 2,300 reviews, yet suddenly gain approx 140 in the last 24 hours, yeah something stinks.

Rob "with an e" Locke on Dormeo mattresses, explaining why retailers are dearer than IW for products, all the extra costs involved like advertising, electricity costs, rates, profit for the different middlemen in the supply chain etc etc. Of course IW don't have those costs as no middlemen (strictly speaking they are a middlemen), not paying for celebrity endorsements (paying actors to sell is that not similar) etc.

Here's a question for you Rob, if higher prices are the fault of the different middlemen and extra costs in the supply chain between manufacturers and retailers, then whats Dormeo's (or many other companies that sell on IW) excuse for charging so much more for selling the same products direct than they do selling on IW, no middlemen or extra costs involved there?

Great point.

That's right !
Inflating the prices on the suppliers website to make the shopping telly prices look good is an old shopping telly trick.
They used to do it on Bid Tv.
It's a scam to be honest , particularly with the various shoddy watch brands they sell these days.
'The manufacturers retail price for this over £1200 , just go to their website - from us today £63, the first of four flexis!'
There's also Kevin's absurd 'book price'- a more meaningless phrase it's hard to imagine.
Well -actually there is a more meaningless phrase...... 'this seems to have been loaded in at the wrong price Peder- I'm just going to have to honour it.'

That's got to be the most Market Stall, most Provincial Shopping Centre trick of them all. The mock horror and 'stopping' of the show in order to 'check with management if we're really doing this for £200 on three flexis'.

Sooo cheap.

looking again at the trustpilot verified reviews and spotted this one.

Lies, Fobbed Off and Ignored. Simply Atrocious.

I ordered goods by telephone as a new customer for my wife as an early Valentine’s Day gift nearly two weeks ago after seeing a gold sale on TJC. I specified a next day delivery. Payment went through perfectly. Expecting the goods to arrive on the Tuesday nothing arrived. I telephoned on Wednesday to enquire what had happened to be informed I had 'failed a security check'. Upon enquiring further the operative claimed 'it's your bank that has refused the transaction'.
Very worried I called Amex to be informed the transaction was reversed by TJC!! Amex had allowed the sale to go through.
I telephoned back and incredibly spoke to the same operative to ask why he had lied to me. All defensive, the response was ‘I have not lied’, which clearly he had.
I asked why I had failed a security check, what was the actual reason my purchase was refused to which no answer was given. I was informed I had to email TJC.
I have emailed and emailed TJC and have been fobbed off repeatedly claiming someone will call me back. I am still waiting!! TJC cannot give me a reason as to why I failed a security check. It's complete secrecy. It’s not as if I’m a fraudster!
I do not have this problem with QVC, Ideal World or Gemporia!!
And so to test TJC I placed another order this time online in my wife's name using our Amex card again specifying a next day delivery and guess what?? The goods arrived!!!!
For some bizarre reason TJC have discriminated against me for reasons I cannot fathom. And I still do not know why I failed a security check despite being a genuine customer. I now have to check my credit file at all credit reference agencies and should I incur any costs I can guarantee I will be pursuing TJC for reimbursement.
What an atrocious, useless, shambolic company. You simply cannot be bothered to assist customers to resolve matters and instead blatantly lie to the customer and blame third parties.
Lets hope the items ordered are actually 9ct gold and not gold plated! TJC – The Joke Company.
I look forward to your response.

So how is this a verified review for Idealworld if it is about TJC :unsure::unsure::unsure::unsure::unsure::unsure:

I think I mentioned this before, I'd love to know what % of products (across all retail) sell for their RRP. Many (most?) retailers seem to have multiple sales and/or promotions throughout the year, so I'd reckon the % will be quite low.

With no disrespect to anyone, you'd have to be pretty gullible to believe the guff around RRP's on selly telly.

Unfortunately the country/world is full of gullible people, geesh you look at the amount that fall for scams, you just need to see the amount of subscribers these influencer types on youtube/internet etc have, or the sicking fawning over celebrities (non entities more like) and their lives, etc. Why do you think companies spend so much on flashy adverts, history has shown that human beings have always been and will continue to be gullible, and are/can be easily manipulated. Whole lot of reasons for that state of affairs, poor education, lack of common sense, sheep/herd mentality of following instead of making your own decisions/thinking for yourself, etc, etc.

As for selly telly (not all, as some are not quite as bad others), they know their viewers or the section (idiots, thick, gullible, uninformed etc) they want to target, they know the cards to play, it's all one big act interspersed with lies and misinformation, presenters pretend they're one of you, just like the viewers, pretend they're your friend, pretend they're doing the you a favour, pretend they're giving you a bargain, pretend it's the best product money can buy, so good in fact they buy it themselves and for their friends and family, get in actors/media folks as pretendy experts to give the product some air of authenticity/respectability that you're getting a superior product, do prentendy demos which seem great and astonish the less knowledgeable viewers but in reality they are nothing more than a con trick.
Yeah one big con game, which in reality there is no need for as a lot of the products would sell if they would just put on an HONEST presentation, of course there are also a lot of products which wouldn't sell as well if they were to be honest, not naming names, but some of the so "collectable" / "future heirloom" watches would top the list. ;):ROFLMAO:

The world/and selly telly would be a much better place if everybody was an cynical old git like me. ;):ROFLMAO:

If everyone was well aware of what's going on then Ideal World and even QVC would have closed down years ago; real bargains on Ideal World do exist but I'm guessing that at least 75% of what they sell is vastly overpriced (basically what they think they can get away with) for 90% of the time, with the product's real value often being approximately the same as the first of the 'Flexi-pay' instalments (and yes that's why there's no Flexi-pay credit check because they don't lose much money if further payments aren't forthcoming). Ideal World and the rest do have 'genuine' sales but they are few and far between.

As for pricing claims, I can even tolerate things like Kevin's "book price" since some bricks-and-mortar jewellery shops do charge significant sums for certain products, but what I hate in particular are the purely-invented "RRP £1500" type of prices for those truly atrocious Reign and Shield watches (amongst others) as well as watches with hyped-up provenace (step forward Porta S), because they're blatant sales devices aimed at idiots with more money than sense. It may be fine if you really know what you're getting but if you really know what you're getting you're much less likely to buy them.

Alternatively, channels like Create and Craft can get away with high pricing because they're selling specialist products to a small but very receptive audience, but again I question the true value of things like die sets worth £100 of which purchasers may end up only using a few items within a particular set, because unless you have a specific reason for producing your own cards for resale, £100 plus the price of a die stamping machine plus all the inks and card stock you'll also need would buy a hell of a lot of greetings cards, wrapping paper and gift bags from Card Factory (other similar outlets are available).

What's with shining a UV torch on the watch dials to make them glow ? Do you need to carry around a UV torch with you to make them work, seems very odd

It's one of those con tricks to make GTLS tube glow brighter than they actually do in the dark, they make it sound like that is how they will look on your bedside cabinet, they won't. Thing is the glow isn't that bright for TV cameras to pick up in a studio, naked eye from a few feet will see it, but camera will struggle to see the glow hence the UV torch.

They glow, but not as brightly as the demo on TV makes you think, normal lume on a watch fades after a short time and needs charged by light, GTLS tubes will glow all night in the dark but it's a fainter glow than normal lume.
It's handy for watches used by military personnel that need to see the time in the dark (G-shocks/casio is another that is often used), normal lumed watches aren't much use for seeing the time in the middle of the night in pitch black without a light source. If your in a military situation, you'd want a watch that you can read the time discreetly without have your wrist glowing for everyone to see where you are, which is what would happen if they were as bright as they are when UV torch is shone on them.

Here is an example of sale price, tonights womens bergonia II at £34.99 and £2.99 p&p and will go up to £80.

But....on sale at regatta also...

Price spy is useful for getting an idea of price history.

See what you mean Hammy.
Bergonia II jacket is half the Ideal world price at Winfields
