NIOD is launching on QVC Beauty before the main Q Channel

I'm still sitting on my hands, despite the tempting logic from Lilith... I'm also really interested in the Dr Dennis Gross ... but it's mainly the NIOD and other Deciem which I think is where I'll be heading when I've made a really good dent in my stash. I'm wondering if/when any of the other insider beauty buzz brands will find their way onto QVC. Possibly we have to wait another year to find out which ones, but QVC may be a good launch platform in the UK for some brands.

haha, don't really mean to be a 'temptress'
and i think it really makes sense to stick to our own boundaries
so if yours is to not spend anymore before a certain time/dent has been made
then you can fully enjoy it when the time comes
and in the meantime indow shop with us )

i agree re the launch platform for niche brands
however i do not trust for QVC to alter/water down good products/formula's
once they made a name and brand for themselves
NIOD may possibly be good for one TSV on QVC
and after that i, personally, would really watch out as i don't trust QVC as far as ....

That's what I'm doing too and am planning to put some unopened items on ebay.
Lilith, are you saying that it's best not to use Liquid Gold any more?

i, personally would not use it in a regular routine anymore
only if i have a real build up dull skin
as a sort of rescue
and also more on problem areas and tzone
or spot treat little blemishes or marks
but i am currently trying more gentle regular things to stop clogging of pores and dead skin build up
apart from NIOD FM mask
also the Alpha H gentle dailiy cleansing powder which is basically freeze dried Pineapple and Papaya enzyme
which i mix into morning cleanser
i am still experimenting and see how i go
but i treat glycolic with a lot of 'respect' and use sparingly

my reasons :
apart from having talked to my lovely ex neighbour who has a very good beauty salon in Chiswick
about glycolic
and she has sad that immediate benefits yes, but longer term, after 6 months or so regualr use, damage to the skin
it is said to be a large & harsh acid molecule and rubs away the outside mantle of skin
and other acid molecule are a little gentle and finer
that is how i best understood it, without being a chemist or expert

then i noticed myself a thinning of skin on my cheeks
which is also probably aging, but still ....

then i thought more about what Michelle said about it being for sun damaged thickening skin
as i understand it, skin gets thicker and coarser to defend itself from sun,
and that conditions in Australia are different to here
and what the trade off may be between short term glow and wow
and long term potential damage and skin thinning (which happens also with age anyway)

and Michelle, who is the same age as myself, has now brought out the Liquid laser stuff
kind of working on her own age problems
and if you examine that cocktail, there is a little bit glycolic in it at the end of the ingredients
but it is more about the retinol and niacinimde really
(and yes with Alpha H as a brand being build on Alpha Hydroxy Acids,
i do not expect her to say that she is staying away from acids more,
i think that is fair enough.....)

and then Brendan started mentioning that he is not a fan of acids
as it harms the skins protective mantle
i.e not helping if you want 'healthy' resilient skin

and so i put all this together
and hence use LG very sparingly and with due respect to its 'power'
i still love the Liquid Gold Mask and am happy to use it before a big night out
as it is the biz
but it does remove 5 layers of skin in 10 minutes
so only for a big occasion, not every week....
if you see what i mean

so it is not 'out' as such

don't know much about these products
i noticed a neck beauty of month product but didn't look into it
and i remember him being a little bit of wizzard for those acids,
lots of stuff with ferulic acid, if i recall

what do you find interesting in his range ... ?

Lilith, are you saying that it's best not to use Liquid Gold any more?

i have about 100ml or so if Liquid Gold left
i reckon that is going to last me a year or so
i don't have any unopened or otherwise i would also try to sell
if had more
i was already a 'sparingly' user when the triple whammy anniversary LG TSV came on lol
so i don't have extras there
have a good stash of BalanceMe squirreled away though
in mainly half type sizes
but should be able to use it all in good time

my challenge is my plant oil cupboard hehe ;o)

The ferulic and retinol eye serum and eye cream.

Just to lob another Caroline H blog post in - great one about using retinol with AHAs

,
'One of the UK's fastest-growing online retailers has acquired a haircare brand sold in Boots in the latest phase of an expansion which is ultimately expected to lead to a stock market flotation.

Sky News understands that The Hut Group, which counts the former Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy among its shareholders, has bought Grow Gorgeous from the Deciem beauty house in Canada.

The deal is the latest in a string of acquisitions by The Hut Group as it accelerates its presence in the online beauty market.

Sources said the deal, which is of undisclosed value, had been funded from existing cash reserves and that an external fundraising reported last week had not in fact taken place.

The purchase of Grow Gorgeous, which is also sold in Selfridges and has sales of between £10m and £20m, follows that of Mio Skincare - which is aimed at pregnant women - six months ago.'

I've been experimenting with Retin Oil and essential oils, tried mixing it with Rose Otto, Lemon and Orange. It seems that Orange works the best in masking the chemical 'citrus' smell. It would be ideal if I could mix the two together in the Retin bottle but not sure if this may afect efficacy of Retin oil.

i don't know either about the efficacy
but it certainly would make your skin more photosensitive
and could give you pigmentation spots
citrus oils and sunexposure are not a very good mix
unless you slather spf over it it all times perhaps
but it creates another complication
esp if you put a good quantity in there
until it smells good to your nose

with regard to efficacy, that is why i suggested not mixing up the whole bottle
mixing it up per application so you could see how you go
maybe get a smaller 30 bottle with dropper and make a small batch only

or maybe just layer something nicer smelling on top a few minutes after application
if you like lavender , it will help you sleep too

or spray some nice essential oil sleepy mix or the this works pillow spray on your pj's

Deciem Hylamide HA Blur just out
this was one i had my eye on
and held on for it
£19 on Deciem website, with offer HABLUR25, £14.25
i am excited (however it does probably not smell good hehe)

it is a Hyaluronic acid powder based, not silicone based skin finisher
promising to hide pores and fine lines
can be worn under or over liquid foundation
or mixed in with it

Thanks for the code lilith!!! I've checked and it works on other products 25% off even better than the last offer.
Where do get deciem codes? I have not received an email from them.

25% of Deciem website with code HABLUR25

not sure if this is meant to work on anything but the just out HA Blur
but i have just tried it on a bottle of NIOD CAIS in basket and it works
says at bottom ' promo code HABLUR25, 25% of total purchase'
says until 7th of March, however, may be a mistake that it is site-wide
so may end earlier for products which are not HA Blur Finisher

a bit more on the new product
'Finisher HA Blur
Skin. In Softer Focus.
.....
Instead of relying on older silica technologies, HA Blur uses an unusual new form of Hyaluronic Acid powder base for its blurring approach. Hyaluronic Acid has never been used for this purpose before and renders HA Blur compatible with all makeup and all skin types, while the blurring effect is exceptional. In fact, it's so compatible with makeup that you can apply under or over foundation, or mix it with any liquid foundation for an ultra-high-definition skin finish.'

haha, we cross posted in the same minute
i had an email from them this morning about HA Blur
and only just myself double checked if it may work on other stuff

we have both ordered from them before
so it could be that either that are sending emails in batches
or have you checked your spam/junk folder ?
(third option would be that they are using algorithyms to determine which offer to send to whom
but i very much doubt that
and there would likely be unique codes to use as vouchers)

It sounds similar to Photo Finish I thought.

Found it in Spam! interesting that when I place an order it doesn't get filtered through.
It seems that deciem introduces a new code one after the other (great), i was trying to use the old code this morning and got a message 'code expired 26 February'.

Marina,
did you see the Victoria Health email newsletter this morning ?
it had Long bit about the delivery problems with Flavone Mud,
being due to supply problems with one raw ingredient ...
Thought i mention it in case it ended up in your junk folder
and i know you are stil wIting patiently (or impatiently) for your FM :0)

Thank you lilith, I got this one. I emailed them directly as well, and they are waiting for their third delivery but not saying when. Apparently they had two deliveries last week. I don't see why deciem don't sell it, it's on their website after all.

i guess VH customers who have already placed orders (like you did before you cancelled)
and on their waitlist take priority over taking new orders on Deciem
when there is a scarcity of product, and ability to fulfill as raw ingredient supply scarce
personally, i think their priorities are the right ones
and fair

i do however understand why you wish to order at the 25% off at Deciem right now :0)

I have ordered HYALURONIC CONCENTRATE with 25% off and it's arriving tomorrow. I'm hoping it's unscented.
