Bose TSV comments

At least they are now selling the radio on its own without a "bundle" of a speaker or headphones that you may not want.

Although this is the latest Mk 4 version, it is still so far behind the times (BTW I have the Mk 3).

It still does not have Bluetooth, a shocking omission for these days.

You still have to set the clock manually, and doing this is so clunky that you'll be lucky to set it within a minute of the actual time.

It is totally reliant on the remote for all controls except on/off, so if you lose or damage it, or the battery goes flat (a specialist circular lithium ion cell) then you can't do anything with it, not even change the volume or tuning.

On the back of the daily mail magazine today there is a Bose system with Bluetooth.

I bought mine on easy pays around 4 years ago.Price was quite a bit more than this TSV.
I love the sound and not having the latest gadgets doesnt worry me as I'm not very techy.

They sell the WAVE radio (as in the TSV) with a plinth that it sits on top of. It is then known as the WAVE SOUNDTOUCH and this model has Bluetooth (in the plinth) but it costs a few pence short of £600.

Strato I'm not techy at all so thanks for all your info on these things, it's a big help. I was going to upgrade my old B&O (which only plays radio and cassettes LOL) but I'd want something that was going to be as good for as long. Maybe I can plug in an Ipod or something to what I've got. The sound is awesome even though it's donkeys years old.

The Bose Wave is on Q today at £550, which is over than £100 more than Bose sell it, and Q don't have any extras with it.

BUT yesterday they were selling it for £349, £100 LESS than Bose's price.

And I am not mistaken, because I actually put one into my shopping basket to check it actually came up at that price.

What on earth is going wrong?

OK, for some reason I missed the fact it was a TSV yesterday, I just did a search for Bose stuff, as I often do, and saw it was £349, which is a cracking price.

But why on earth has it gone up £200 ??? And is £100 more than from Bose ???

I rang CS, they have completely sold out, so you can't even buy one for £550 if you were foolish enough to try. That is more than the current price of the Soundtouch version from Bose, with the Bluetooth plinth!

the QVC Price of £550 was the QVC price last year when it was a tsv as it was down to under £500 as a TSV & was cheaper than bose at that time so the QVC Price has remained unchanged since then so thats why for the TSV it dropped to £350 to make it cheaper than buying direct

Yeah but most technology prices come down in time. QVC rarely reduce theirs. Never been sold on the brand despite having friend that think it is great, don't think it even looks good either.

I don't understand Bose. They take an old model, then ad another feature to it externally, instead of building it inside the unit. The first Bose unit I ever saw with DAB had the DAB added by an extra box plugged into the back! Which I thought very crude.

Yesterdays TSV price surprised me, £350 seemed quite low for Bose, but the lack of Bluetooth nowadays is a deal killer!

I bought the Roberts 93i internet radio. Bluetooth is an extra module that can be stuck on the back but I hear that it will work just as well with a Bluetooth USB stick! So Bose are not alone in just sticking extra bits on.

I’m currently using an old tablet with BBC Radio iPlayer and a Sony Bluetooth cube speaker to listen to the radio as I am in Spain. Great sound for such a tiny cube speaker. Sony model SRS-X11. I can walk in all round the flat

i would love to upgrade my non bluetooth bose to a bluetooth bose. for £349 but i suppose thats not happening

Almost certainly no Bluetooth with the Bose radio. The Soundtouch module for it has Apple Airplay, but it goes wrong whenever Apple update the IOS operating system, and by the time Bose fix it, Apple updates IOS again!

And it is so "old hat" that you have to set the time manually, and that is so difficult that you are lucky to set it to within a minute.

And another thing - - - there are no controls on the unit except on/off, so you have to rely on the remote control. If you misplace it, or the battery fails, or the remote breaks, the radio is useless, you can't even adjust the volume, let alone change stations.

And you have no control over the "tone" ie bass and treble.

i will stick to the one i have i don't listen to radio it was the bluetooth i was after
