Been a QVC watcher for more years than I care to remember, watched some of the Fashions Shows recently! Got a couple of things from them over the years, basically just to try them out - got to say the things I bought were alright and wearable!

My question is, why do they not do more British designs? The ones I saw recently were mainly American and as we all know they are not renowned for their fashion sense etc.

Or am I missing something here? British brands for British audience makes more sense and then maybe, just maybe I will take the plunge more often. Also, it may do some of the Presenters a big favour and not wearing these dowdy outfits :mysmilie_8:

QVC is an American company so they are going to insist on their overseas 'branches' pushing the U.S brands that no-one has heard of anywhere else. I would imagine that its the same in Italy - who have some of the best designers in the world, yet have to suffer the indignity of having American rubbish forced upon them !

QVC is a monster company that generate so much profit that it can afford to steamroller the countries where they broadcast.

Shame on them, maybe one day they will wake up and see sense and some decent British Fashions to sell! Would make sense :mysmilie_59:

Glittergirl couldn't agree more & I have wondered the same in the past.I like some German fashions & go over there quite often IMO they are nearer to British tastes.I expect if they offered items that were readily available on the dreaded High Street that would be too much competition, which has happened with so many beauty brands.

There's not much British fashion that they could afford to sell. No British manufacturing to speak of these days either.
Unfortunately they can buy in millions of a line in the USA, and sell it on their channels worldwide, it makes sense logistically, if not aesthetically.

Fair point but surely they can introduce more British or like you have suggested fashions? My main point is that America isn't renowned for its trendy clothes and personally think some of these fashions are awful and poor :mysmilie_1:

I see, was just a thought. Got to be some brands that would :mysmilie_48:

Strangely I got a survey about buying dresses from QVC today. Even asked about height and sleeve lengths.

My final parting comment of, I would not wear the eye watering patterns they favour might have knocked it a bit.:mysmilie_15:

They can make it in Brighton, Bombay or Timbuktu but once Q buyers put their twopence in it will all morph into the same as the US stuff we already have. I think even if they are a British company (T&S or Together) they are still made outside the UK therefore it will make no difference to employment or quality.

If you look at the jewellery brands we used to have which are still on in US they are far nicer than we get here. I think Q buyers are very very poor at their jobs. They have the worst possible taste.

well people wanted a british one & here we go but if it dont sell they will take that as a hint to go back to what they know sells

Some of the prints look less garish than we get from our American cousins... but they do have the requisite sharkbite hems etc... So the difference could well be pricing.

Agree with all the comments, but judging by the few pictures on the blog, its still all very samey. I suppose for cheapness there isn't much that can be done with a pull-on frock in the poly/elastene fabric that can be made in hundreds, so its sleeves or sleeveless with a bit of ruching.

I'm a huge fan of Sahara and Masai clothing brands, - same sort of price bracket as Join and Yong Kim, BUT more stylish and more cotton and linen is used, AND they fit me at size 20/22 !
