Lakeland guarantee

This has possibly been mentioned before but I have just noticed that Lakeland have reduced their guarantee to 3 years. I realise I probably shouldn't post this in the QVC section but their previous lifetime guarantee has been mentioned here in the past and I don't know where else to post it.
 
I had an email about the guarantee this week and assumed it was improved as I'm a relatively new Lakeland shopper. What was it before? And do you get the same length of guarantee if you buy Lakeland items through QVC?
 
It used to be a lifetime guarantee, goods could be returned years after purchase, no questions asked. Reading forums on the internet I got the impression that some people abused that.
If you buy a Lakeland item from QVC the Lakeland guarantee does not come with it as your contract is with QVC unless it is faulty on delivery in which case Lakeland will replace it then.
 
Like we need another reason to shop direct with the supplier/brand rather than through Q!
