Just watching the Betty and Co fashion show, hope someone else is, because i am wondering why JR is talking in such an odd way, pronouncing words in a strange way, and, it seems to me trying to sound posh, hope it's not just me.

Although she's got her passive sales technique down to a fine art, I find her sarcasm at others people's expense and her intimidation a complete and utter turn off. She seems to want to sound posh by the sounds of it, but if she ever gives up her day job (the day that'll be declared a national public Bank Holiday) she'd be great at entering all those gurning competitions, with those faces she pulls, she'll win hands down.

Maybe she's been on a girly night out with Jill Franks, Liz Earle and Alexis Murdoch from l'Occitane?

She's been doing this for quite a while now which I find annoying & pathetic especially when she slips up & says something like a person from Nottingham would , which is where she is from. I think people should be proud of their accents, I love accents but can't stand t when people try to hide theirs & pretend they are something they are not!

Julia has been trying to sound 'posh' for years and the way she tosses her head and tries to look coquettish makes her look ridiculous. She is a good presenter but need to stop these silly girly habits she seems to have got into.

I agree, I cannot watch her anymore because of it, which is a shame as she used to be one of the best presenters.

It's unbelievably irritating how she just hangs onto the end of words and converts every vowel into an "aaaaar" sound.

ordaaaaaaaaaaaar, advaaaaaarrrrnced ordaaaaaaaaaaar etc.

As soon as I hear Julia say Numba a few times....I switch off, and her size small is just laughable.

I watched a bit of that show and she did seem very patronising to Lesley Ebbetts who mispronounced something. Julia went to great lengths to draw attention to it and belittle Lesley.

I didn't see that but coming from Queen Julia Roberts that wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. When I channel hop and land on an item she's presenting, I can see she's getting more and more superior and rude, the confidence of a woman who knows she can act as disrespectful as she wants to other people, and she knows nothing will be done about it, on similar lines to Debbie "freebie" Flint and the resident beauty "expert" in fact, I'm fully convinced that it's certain presenters who are running the show because of the way they act.

She is always like that. Trouble is people pretending to be what they aren't usually come unstuck at some point.

I agree, I've also noticed she must've started going to the Claire Sutton school of baby waby voices, because she, like Claire Sutton, seems to be regressing and talking more babyish the older she gets, it's very embarrassing for the more mature person, and absolutely hilarious to hear. :mysmilie_15:

It was cringeworthy when JR asked Julie from Peony flaaars where her invitation to Julie's 50th birthday bash was. She mentioned that she hadn't had one in the post and Julie suddenly got all flustered about what she was trying to present. She was clearly embarrassed, then hesitated and said "of course you can come". I firmly believe that JR was not joking about it and will probably push her way in. She's the last person I'd want at a party! Talk about inviting yourself. Under the circumstances, I'm sure Julie felt obliged to ask her and, no doubt, JR will use it for bragging rights.

It's almost as bad with JF! She was practically licking Julie's boots the day before, and constantly going on about how she would looooooove to see the estate. We all know these presenters are nothing and not the sort of people Julie is likely to want to socialise with outside of business.

When I first saw the strange movement of her mouth and head as she forced out the posh sounds ,it seemed as if she had developed a neurological problem/movement disorder. Her silly giggling was reminiscent of that you would have with friends on a night out.She was at work.

Totally agree. Why try so hard to be someone she is not?She speaks with an accent. So what?A person can speak with an accent but still speak intelligently ,correctly and politely. It's all part of her trying to leave her roots behind and become a celeb. In reality she's a shop assistant which is a job many 'normal' people ,just like her when growing up in Nottingham, are happy to do.

How funny is it when she says "everyone has complemented me this morning!" ..... of course they will! you're Queen Julia! who's not going to complement the almighty ruler of QVC. I bet it's like a scene out of "The Devil Wears Prada" when they see her coming, like when the employees see Meryl Streeps character coming towards them, they all scurry the other way trying not make eye contact. :mysmilie_17:

Perhaps she's worried that Q will pension her off to save money, like they have with the more experienced models. She is probably on the highest rate of remuneration, together with Dale and the 2 Alisons.

I HATE it when the presenters do this. I've seen Julia do it frequently, but also Jill Franks and Alison Keenan (and of course that epitome of perfection, Debbie F). Why can't they just move on and pronounce it correctly in normal dialogue afterwards? Far from making them look superior, in my book it just make them look tacky and pathetic. No presenter who is confident of their own ability needs to belittle other people in public viewing, quite the opposite.

That is just bad manners!! If I was Julie I would have said the party is just for close friends & family but poor Julie was probably taken aback by Julia's behaviour & panicked. What a manipulative madam!

Hells bells, none of the above (apart from AK) would win any prizes for their intelligence so why they would feel they could correct someone else is beyond me.
