Hmmm that got me thinking. Was it three or four plants in the pots last year - I think it was three different types. There were damson/gold petunias and they lasted and lasted. Plants 2 Gardens aren't the cheapest but the plants do grow and they send them out when they are a decent size so they have more chance. I keep mine under cover until I'm sure a sneaky frost won't kill them off.

Sister bliss like many the assumption that Scotland is freezing is incorrect i rarely have a problem with plants freezing but usually leave bedding till may for safety but would never buy QVCs expensive plants.

I find it freezing compared to The Cotswolds & I'm hot blooded. I 'researched' the weather once in comparatively mild Edinburgh & it gets dark there at 3 in high winter, then there's the snow & rain. I guess it's all subjective & may be your garden is warm
