None taken. I just stopped doing it which was a pity because it was a lovely thing to do & had the potential to be a really good community resource. Having worked with children for years I'm very aware of how to behave. The fact that one of the other volunteers dismissed my concerns saying it was down to his age annoyed me because he was my dad's generation & he would never have made someone feel uncomfortable.

I haven't watched mornings on ITV in decades. I cant bear the jolly hockeysticks folksy awwwwww we love you type of presenting. Lorraine is the steel hand in the velvet glove - even Richard & Judy has 'issues' with her years ago and aren't her biggest fans, and who can understand that accent ?

Jeremy Kyle was Sun reader television, and there was no wonder Schofield and Holden are at each other's throats, both monstrously ambitious so there isn't a sofa large enough for those egos. Holly W is now getting too long in the tooth for the girly giggly attitude. Funny how all of them have the same management company - who must be coining it in with all the publicity they get. Unpleasant people.

Why has TV/newspapers all become so dumb down. Even half decent programmes such as Countryfile has become Blue Peter for adults. I’m tired of having a choice of soft porn or condescending talk slowly in a primary teacher voice. I am an adult and want to watch something meaty that doesn’t involve Willoughby/Holden or Gloria Hunniford types.

Just watched a trailer for Sketchers with the new presenter Natasha, no no no. Another finger pointer and hand clapper.

If she is on with Vonda my heart goes out to anyone actually wanting to watch the show.

I just can't take to her, & I feel I'm quite tolerant. The only one I'll actually switch of is CS.

We have all spoken of the 'wonderful' virtues that Erica had with regards to her product range, but it got me to wondering how much influence all the other 'names' have with regards to their products. I mean Alison Cork, Kelly Hopen, Julian Mcdonald, Amanda Holden, Lisa Snowden, the list goes on, but in reality do they truly have much of an input?!

I don't think anyone who "designs" for QVC has much input. It's different if they are bringing an existing range, I imagine. KH is known as a designer, as is JM in real life. AC also has an interiors background. So in a design context I think they have more credibility and more to lose. Whereas Lisa Snowdon and Amanda Holden, and Ruth Langsford are there because they have a level of celebrity that is within QVC's price range... For years in the US they have recruited soapstars and reality tv stars for the same purpose. That only works if your actual audience watches and likes such slebs. And QVC are after a younger audience who are watching less telly and more stuff on Instagram, YouTube and other platforms. Younger audiences aren't even that keen on Facebook these days.

Do younger audiences REALLY get enthralled by Kuhn Rikon products, or Cozy Home Bedding, or Nina Leonard fashions ????

I doubt it. Especially at QVC prices.

I watched a programme last week on the decline of Philip Green, and they sent some young shoppers to shop in Top Shop, they all said the stuff was too expensive, so I would think the same with QVC.

Unfortunately they all want to be eco warrior types all whilst wearing t shirts made in sweatshops, dyed in rivers and flown half way across the world all to sell for £1, wear it to a festival and leave all your (plastic) rubbish behind you.

I know maybe those without the bank of mum and dad can’t spend a lot but most I know seem to buy weekly from Primark and Next.

When it comes down to it we ALL have far far too much stuff. I am having building work done and every night it is like army manoeuvres shifting stuff from room to room and it has really brought it home to me how I most get rid of a heck of a lot of unnecessary things, unfortunately really good quality but no longer part of my present lifestyle.

Yes I saw the news item about the cost of a Prom night.This is totally ridiculous another American import with the pressure on youngsters to conform to this.In my day we just left school and moved on!Did I read once that children ‘graduate’ from Primary school? I put many of these pressures down to Social media, something else I will have nothing to do with.

The year 11 prom was a huge event at the school where I worked; the girls talked about it as soon as they came back in September, there was a prom committee, theme (complete with a theme tune) & even staff co-ordinated their outfits. Even bigger was the after party - no adults allowed but loads of alcohol + extras imbibed. Clothes, spray tans, every beauty treatment you can name, hair trials & styles, transport - fire engines, vintage buses even tractors & a massive traffic jam in the village when they all gathered for the photo opp. Each year we'd have about 10 students who didn't attend, not due to cost but because they weren't interested. One couple spent over £2000 on their daughter's dress, she looked as though she should have been on TOWIE.

All this when they are on the brink of uni where the money would be put to much better use.

It’s like weddings- it’s all about the dressing up and the party and nothing about the consequences of the deed.

Ooooh weddings, now there's a way to make money. A woman I worked with paid about £40,000 for her daughter's wedding - beautiful photos and bride but ****** hell! Thing was she had two more daughters who no doubt would want the same. £40K was the price of my house!! (20 years ago though).

There was a famous incident locally where a fight broke out between B&G at the reception and her father insisted in getting marriage annulled. It was a real society (class eh!) do costing many tens of thousands.

It's often nothing to do with what the kids themselves want; instead of is sometimes parent's wish-fulfilment, grandstanding, or trying to outdo each other. Competitive parenting...
