As a Prime member you get a sneaky peak a couple of weeks before so I’ve already got some great bargains, I love Amazon :mysmilie_3:

Where are you browsing the deals, shopperholic? I am sure in previous years, there was a daily email or I got a pop-up somewhere on the site. It could well be my imagination but there doesn't seem to be so much publicity for it this year (I know there are tv ads for the day itself but I'm not seeing individual top offers). I need to get tuned in to it!

It’s on the homepage, I’m using iPhone Andi and last week and the week before it had all the offers for Prime members. https://www.amazon.co.uk/l/10157705...&pf_rd_p=ed877744-2ec7-401c-a4cb-8176fa6f7bfc :mysmilie_3:

And Alexa deals. https://www.amazon.co.uk/b/ref=gw_u...&pf_rd_p=2931f269-dd79-4c48-bc2e-a3644915eca5

Thank you. It isn’t how I remember it but maybe I’m thinking of the pages you get on the actual day(s). Or am I thinking of Black Friday?? Oh, I don’t know. I’ll have to study it more closely tomorrow.

I had a look at these Amazon links again earlier and decided I might quite like a little Echo Dot for £22 instead of £49.99. I got an Echo Plus from QVC in December when it was a TSV and I really love it. It gets so much use. I thought I might try a Dot as an "add-on" downstairs so went to the item page and noticed apart from the colour options, there's an offer for two Dots plus a Smart Plug for £44.99, which is a great deal when you consider that's less than the regular price of one (I'm sure you don't actually have to pay full price at any time but still). So that little lot's on its way to Andi Towers!

I think you can get it with a "talk to" bulb as well.

I have the Mk1 dot, but it is not very loud nor good quality sound, but I believe the MK2 has been much improved. altogether I have 6 now of various types.

It is great to go to bed with the light on for a bit, then just say "alexa light off" and also turn it back on by speech if I get up at night. I do this using the smartplug, but could equally use the smartbulb. The plug is much more versatile, as you can use it to turn any mains item on and off.

Ooh, I'll have to look at this "Talk to" bulb. Haven't explored that option.

The Dots I've ordered are 3rd Generation. Online tech review sites say don't expect top sound (although you can use them to create a half decent stereo system and get a Sub(woofer) too) but the newer versions pack a bit more of a punch apparently. The Echo Plus 2nd Gen I got from QVC (I think you got one at the same time, stratobuddy) has a lovely warm sound so I listen to a lot of radio and music on that, but I'll just use the Dots maybe for radio in the kitchen or sitting room when I'm in and out as opposed to the music system in the sitting room (old-school now really but still sounds good). They'll also be useful for simple questions/info/instructions.

I've got so used to talking to my Echo Plus upstairs that I forget and say "Alexa, stop" to the telly when I want to stop/mute it to use the phone, say (or when Debbie Flint comes on, ha ha!)

I'm looking forward to trying the Smart Plug - not sure what for yet.

Yes I was so pleased with the Echo Plus 2nd Gen that I bought another one (not from Q but from Amazon when they had an offer, about same price as the Q TSV). The amazon prices go up and down like a yo-yo. I got the smartplug, and I also have a smartbulb but haven't used it yet.

The sound of the Echo Plus 2nd Gen is very good.

I keep a track on amazon prices with camelcamelcamel. using this and being willing to wait has saved me a fortune.

That’s interesting, thanks. I do often search items and put several similar on one of my Wish Lists with a note of the price and date (Amazon point out when things have gone down since added but not when they go up), then revisit the list at intervals. However, this camelcamelcamel tool sounds great for more timely alerts and would definitely help if there were only a brief window of price reduction which I’d otherwise miss. Think I’ll give that a go.
