I’ve seen a number of posts on social media saying that Super Shoppers on channel 4 at 8 pm on Wednesday has a feature about QVC‘s returns policy. This isn’t mentioned in the TV guide I have checked but I have seen several posts about it. I will probably set this to record as it could be as it could be interesting.
 
Well spotted, BB. It is mentioned in one of this weekend’s newspaper TV supplements:

Ha ha. Maybe they could have a special edition of GPs Behind Closed Doors in which your nice Dr Khan investigates QVC’s claims about some of its beauty products, supplements and gadgets.

Supershoppers is not something I usually watch but I saw some of the early episodes and picked up the odd interesting tip. Mostly I found it dull otherwise, but this one on Wednesday is a must-see.

I think I'll tape this. It'll depress me further about our not-so-nice GPs.

Will be interesting to see whether following the episode Q decide to alter their policy. Of course I am not 'clairvoyent' but I wonder if it is to do with the cost of returning items. I mean how many times on this forum and on the reviews for the items do people complain (and justifyably in today's market), bemoan at the cost or return postage. Given how other companies operate and the fact that they actually charge postage at all (and only a measly 1/2 reduction for 2nd and subsequent), but the 'kick in the teeth' is that if you don't like it you can return, some will decide not to bother as given the item may have been 'relatively low', in the first place, may find it is not worth the effort, of course therefore in Q's eyes it will be another 'satisfactory customer' and their sales rate high, in reality of course, this is a long way from the truth.

No, it is time Q UK do what Q America do and allow Paypal as a payment method as at least this way, some of the postage return costs can be paid for!

I know this is slightly 'off-piste', but don't you find that show slightly voyeristic? I mean I did try and watch some of the earlier episodes, but I felt very uncomfortable to the point where I stopped, I admit I do watch shows like Ambulance and 999... but this seems a little more 'intimate' somehow. I have also not watched Casualty 24/7 as it is my local hospital, thus the one episode I did happen to 'glance upon' showed someone I knew in 'not very nice circumstances', thus stopped watching. No, I do wonder, whether we are going a little far?!

I see your point but people obviously are happy to be filmed. I’m not sure about younger people or children being on it as they can’t actually agree to it themselves. Personally I would never agree to being filmed for something like this but everyone’s different.

I doubt QVC will change. If the programme were more hard-hitting or mainstream they might get a bit hot under the collar but they will no doubt ignore it like they always do. I bet we get “We asked QVC to justify this but they declined to comment” (or, more accurately, “QVC said they would send us a complaint form to post back and they would reply in a few weeks’ time - but they did put a kiss at the end”).

If they are investigating Q’s returns policy, I hope it’s about all aspects, ie not automatically refunding original postage, having to complete a form, slow refunds, issues with returning under 30 day mbg.

I agree Andi, there are a whole range of policies that if a watchdog started digging, would never stop. There’s no way on this earth they’ll charge their retail ways now, it would mean bringing their whole computer systems kicking and screaming in to the modern retail age, it would cost a fortune and QVC certainly won’t foot the bill, and they’re already a lot dearer than anywhere else, and that’s before you factor in the delivery charges so can’t add it in to the price per item, so they’ll just bow their heads in shame and know that the storm will eventually blow over, and people will keep buying.
 
I have set the recorder! (But there is no reference to QVC in the the TV guides I have read.)
 
If Channel 4 read the reviews about QVC on Trustpilot, they'd be able to make a whole series, rather than just cover it on one programme.

Oh, Dr Khan what a lovely doctor/person he is. Wish he was mine. We only have 2 doctors and one of them is part time, the practice just uses locums so you never get to see the same ones twice. That GP practice has so many doctors I have lost count. They also do minor surgery, whereas mine can't even get the gel dispenser by the door to work.
 
I don't know who Dr Khan is but I'd love him to be my doctor. I never go to mine. Last time I went I was given an appoint for 1.10pm so I arrived and sat there, and sat there. Thirty five minutes later I complained as I was the only one in the surgery only to be told "oh, the doctor's at lunch". Why the hell book me a ****** appointment at that time then? Never been back and while I'm thinking about it they've been giving me repeat prescriptions for two years and never once asked to see me. Caring eh?

Sounds just like our practice. Last time I went was October 2017, I wasn't ill but I had a question & I was asked if I would be happy to see an FY1 because all her decisions etc would be checked by another doctor. Long story short I was sent for blood tests, I was told by phone that the results were fine. A week later I was asked to see this FY1 again & she announced that the one result was of 'major concern', she thought it was likely I had pancreatic cancer & needed to see a specialist immediately. She was flapping around, did something to close down her pc that then played dead & all but pushed me out of the room with the phone number of the radiography dept written on a post-it instructioning me to book an appt, patients can't do this! The dept did take pity on me, I had a scan & could tell all was fine as no area was lingered over or visited twice. This FY1 had no idea about my private life or background & if she'd given that info to someone with any MH issues there could have been a tragedy. I have total faith in my vet & she's told me if I ever have any real health worries I'm to see her.

I watch GP's because I am so phobic about going to the doctors that I like to see that other ordinary people can cope with all sorts of things major/minor/intimate etc. Gives me more confidence to go (can't get an appointment though).
