QVC did have to put their hands up!

It was pointed out by the programe how they should have paid P&P back in some cases but did not seem to know how the law worked. Showed how hit and miss QVC understood the law.
 
I watched it. I thought they were quite lucky not to have had this on Watchdog! The show didnt hide the facts as found, but they weren't exactly hard on the Q.

I thought they should have made one thing clearer about the MBG in that you can wear or use the item for the 30 days whereas under the 14 days you can't. The lawyer did say you can do what you could reasonably expect to do in a shop but I felt that could have been emphasised because you can't, say, use makeup for 14 days under these regs.

Personally I doubt this was a lack of training issue or whatever. I reckon they did not want to treat these returns under the regs. And well done to St Forumites for raising this repeatedly on here too and spreading the news about these regs.

I also wondered if the lady who raised the issue still has an account!

This is exactly what I was just going to say. In fact, did they mention QVC’s 30 day MBG at all?

They did point out that the 30 money-back was much easier to find on the website and of course 99% of people never actually read the terms.

Now, this was for me the really interesting bit, they did say the 14 day was different but hidden so QVC did not really want anyone looking to find unless they tried.

Okay, who spotted this one and it was new to me.

You have 14 days to tell the company you are returning and want your postage back. But you then have an extra 14 days to actually return it! So many thought you had to return it within the 14 day period.

I suppose it was not something they were asked to look into in the programme about how much of a beauty product you are allowed to use before QVC can refund to accept it back under the 30-day money back.
 
I personally if was returning under distant seller regs, wouldn’t leave it the full 14 days to inform them and the full 14 days for it to arrive back, on any easy pay item. Cause to have to get into trying to get two easy pays refunded, plus postage, that’s sure to be an accident waiting to happen.
 
Until last year I always posted a review, so I had a look & since CCR was introduced I've returned 25 items & I know that all would have gone back immediately. It will be interesting to see the outcome.

I would tend to agree with you DG, but then I think, the fact that we've returned an item surely means that the order has been cancelled? It's common sense in my eyes, but then again, this is Q that we're talking about after all.

Funnily enough I answered someone's thread recently on distance selling cancellations, that as long as you cancel in 14 days you don't have to tear down to the post office by 5pm the same day. The whole system is a bit foggy and unsurprisingly the online retailers aren't going to spell it out unless they're required to by law. I doubt Q is the only culprit, but possibly one of the biggest.

I agree. For what it's worth a lot of legal jargon can be interpreted in different ways. The following information includes a description of what I presume is the return section of the delivery note & completion of that cancels the order in writing. I've never sent an email to the Q, or anyone else, telling them that I'm cancelling an order under CCR, just returned the item with the relevant information.

Cancelling your order

The Consumer Contracts Regulations enable you to cancel in writing, by fax or by email, although it’s sensible to stick with the process the seller has set up - if it’s reasonable.

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations you should be provided with a cancellation form at the point of sale, although you don't have to use it.

Most online sellers will provide an email address you can send a cancellation to'.
 
I don't know who Dr Khan is but I'd love him to be my doctor. I never go to mine. Last time I went I was given an appoint for 1.10pm so I arrived and sat there, and sat there. Thirty five minutes later I complained as I was the only one in the surgery only to be told "oh, the doctor's at lunch". Why the hell book me a ****** appointment at that time then? Never been back and while I'm thinking about it they've been giving me repeat prescriptions for two years and never once asked to see me. Caring eh?

Mine did a review without me being there and took me off a medication I'd been prescribed by a specialist. I didn't find out until the item didn't turn up in my prescriptions. The palaver I had trying to get it back on was horrendous. They "couldn't find" the specialist's letter so I took a copy of mine (don't ever through your hospital letters!) and even then they just about accused me of lying to get the drug. I had to point out to them that if they phoned the specialist's secretary they'd be put straight. The secretary phoned me in a fury about me being taken off that particular drug for over a week.

I've turned up to appointments to be told the doctor called in sick. If I did that I'd be blacklisted.

They also have no regards for people or the environment. I rang a fortnight ago to arrange my flu shot and asthma review. I was told nope. I'd be given an appointment when they catch up with the rest of the stragglers in late October. I had to go down and speak to the receptionist. and after a load of teeth-sucking and frowning by the receptionist she disappeared, returned 5 minutes later and I'm having it next week.

The next day a letter arrived asking me to make an appointment for my asthma review.

This palaver happens every year. I'm on a limited income so "popping down" to the surgery (12-mile round trip that costs me and the planet with my petrol fumes) is costly and unnecessary. I tried calling to make my asthma review the same time as the flu shot but the nurse is booked up and the y "can't" change the flu to a few days later to be done the same time.

That's 24 miles of fuel and my time (which obviously isn't as precious as the staff's) wasted needlessly. If they do this to everyone they're literally costing the earth.

Rant over... maybe.

I agree, I got a call asking me to pick my thyroid blood test form up, so toddled off to get it done when that afternoon, got another call to say there was a blood test form for glucose, and I’d just been! Although my doctors is literally seconds around the corner, that close I could fall out of bed and be at the door, going for bloods is a pain in the arse.

I know the feeling. There is no care within the "caring" profession these days.

I have TM (bit like MS). I've been going downhill a fair bit lately, though I was ok for the first 20 years since my "probable" diagnosis. During that 20 years I'd been back and fore with all kinds of crappy symptoms yet no one ever looked at my notes and put 2+2 together. It was only after a definite diagnosis in 2014 when two nurses asked me if it was a "relief" to have been diagnosed did I start thinking that maybe they did actually know that something was up.

I got hold of a copy of my notes last year (with a sprinkling of notes belonging to other people here and there!). It's clear that some doctors had bothered to go back in my history but since my old doctor retired in 2007 it's pretty clear the new ones hadn't. Almost every visit has a disparaging remark followed by multiple exclamation marks.

Who the hell do these people think they are? I go to the doctor very rarely and with a genuine complaint and they treat me like a hysterical child. It got a bit better not long after my confirmed diagnosis but it started with the remarks again in 2016.

This all started after a physical attack when I was diagnosed with PTSD. It's very clear which of the GPs are sympathetic to mental health patients and which aren't. Not that I needed to read my notes. One GP's wife committed suicide not long after the he told me to pull myself together and stop swinging the lead. WTF?! I was under a psych team at the time and on high doses of antipsychotics. I knew his wife and felt awfully sorry for his family but not him. He should not be a doctor if he doesn't believe that people have mental health conditions.

Back to the QVC returns issue. Does anyone think they could get a refund for all the packages they've returned within 14 days? I never hang around if something doesn't fit or I don't like it (with the exception of beauty products and as used I wouldn't get a return anyway)?
 
Hug from me alter (if you do hugs). I had a lovely consultant who absolutely took me seriously then he retired and I seemed to be a victim of you live in a sh*t area therefore you must be a drug addict/alcoholic who is trying to scrounge off work (I've always worked even through illness). I didn't go back after that and now I just continue to get my blanket repeat drugs. It's not good but I prefer it that way. Not all serious illnesses are visible.

This is piss poor. Where on earth in the country (& 21st Century?) is your Doctor's surgery, Alter Ego?
 
Good grief, alter ego, Ive just read your posts and can hardly believe you get this standard of treatment. I go to quite a large London surgery so there are several doctors I can see, you dont have to book your allocated GP. You can also book online so selecting the doctor you want, assuming they have a space! And your receptionists sound ****** appalling!

CC, dont you have to go for an annual review? My doctor wont issue a prescription if the annual review date is overdue. I always try to stock up just before in case they suddenly knock something off, or the NHS no longer do it!

That’s absolutely disgusting ae, I’d report that doctor to the medical counsel I would honest the cheeky bas***d! But I know what you mean, the majority just don’t care, they really don’t. It’s all about money for GPs, patients don’t matter.
 
alter ego - That's an awful condition & I'm sorry that you're not so good at the moment. The NHS is revered by many but I always think it's odd that no other country has copied the format & many poorer ones have much better healthcare systems. It's stretched itself too much, has too many managers & has made the new hospitals too big & impersonal, someone close to us has regular appointments at a local cancer hospital, the patients & staff have to travel around in golf carts due to the size of the grounds & he has to explain his complex case on each visit because the staff are always new. Every doctor's receptionist I've ever met has resembled a gorgon & enjoyed being difficult, it's a job I couldn't do but a pleasant manner doesn't cost the earth. If you are healthy & can stay away from doctors life is good.
