I counted the pieces that I had brought from GemsTV and it totals 87. But I really think that will be a FINAL total.

I know you may think I have an unhealthy obsession but I am unable to leave the house without assistance and so the television is my friend. I turn on GemsTV and Lucy Hunt is appears to be on day and night Screaming like a banshee. Telling me to bulk buy .. why would I want to bulk buy a ring?

I don't enjoy The Jewellery Channel for the same reason. I have asked my daughter to look into getting Sky to replace Virgin so I can see Rocks and Co, I have watched a little on the web and it looks veruy entertaining and they have some lovely pieces.

For the time being for my sanity I think I will just have to avoid GemsTV which is such a shame, it just isn't the same anymore.

Hi Bling Hunter,

I gave up on Virgin about six months ago, due to the persistently lousy service I was receiving throughout the whole of my first year with them. They did keep giving me credits but, being in a similar posiiton to yourself, I wanted a service not credits. As soon as my one year's agreement with them was served, I switched to Sky whose service I have yet to find fault with since I haven't actually needed anything since a prompt and efficient installation. Sky has also worked out cheaper with Sky Plus in the sitting room and the addition of a box in the bedroom which I did not have before. I chose Virgin+ initially because I'm a bit snobby about the dishes.

As Mirabelle says, you will be able to get a certain amount of Rocks & co. from Freeview, but if you are looking for more channels than Freeview can provide, I recommend Sky.

All the best and enjoy your telly, whichever service you go with.

ive been buying from gems for around 4 yrs now, but not more what a load of rubbish they are selling now !!! to much silver, friggin dog leads, scarves, handbags and now flaming ornaments what ever next fgs, there was at one time i couldnt turn the tv off, i was afraid of missing something beautiful but thats not happened for over a year now hey ho

Bling hunter - I couldn't agree more about Lucy. I dread to think how much I've bought from GTV over the years (I know its over 100 rings, 40 pendants - not to mention bracelets and earrings) and I can't watch when Lucy is on. That said I'm not watching atm anyway - as Veronica says they are churning out so much carp these days. My last purchases were around a year ago too and although I'd have loved a couple of the more recent pieces I'm that cheesed off with GTV I've not bothered.

My god this woman just gets worse and worse never has there been a person who shouts such crap.

This was followed by tranquil music and her trying to tell me that a tanzanite ring was something special, tranquil music ends she shouts, back to tranquil music, she gets LOUDER and LOUDER .....

Had to turn over she is one of the worst female shopping television presenters ever, in my opinion!

Lucy is very pretty and so I think she will attract many chaps, mine certainly finds her easy on the eye - Grrrr!

I also find her exuberance at bit OTT and I have to turn the sound down when she is presenting. I don't dislike her on a personal level, I just wish she would adopt a more calm approach to selling.

Bling Hunter I totally agree with what you've said about Lucy and Gems TV, however can I ask if you've read the Rocks & Co section on here? Most of us will not buy from them but of course if you are aware of their high prices, poor quality gemstones and dodgy business practice then you can make an informed decision yourself. Just wanted to warn you. I personally find The Jewellery Channel to be the best of the TV channels by miles. Have you tried Rocks TV on the internet? They have excellent value for money pieces and their Customer Service is second to none. Again, have a look at their section on here. Word of mouth is always the best recommendation and we are so lucky to have this forum!

I think Graham must have been driven to bumping up the thread through sheer desperation. I wholeheartedly agree with everything he says. She can look very pretty, but on other days really not so and, besides, I'm sure the majority of viewers are female, so the screaming and antics spoil everything for me anyway.
We all have presenters we don't like so much on all of the shopping channels, but I'm afraid she is my least favourite (by far) of the lot. I just shudder when I hear her voice, it really is like a nail down a blackboard to me. She could so easily tone it down and not go into that horrible voice that Cilla Black used to flip into in her songs in the 60's (yes, I'm really that old!!).

Oh no not the clit bang wham bam man! <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D36%252F36%255F11%255F6%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_11_6.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D36%252F36_11_6%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

What had happened is that Lucy asked the GemsTV Marketing Manager to ask me to remove this thread, so I took a look at it and then watched Lucy, my reply was the result.

As with all threads on the forum they are opinions and as such we have the right to give, and in my opinion rather than asking for a thread to be removed it would have been better for her to take comments on board and stop screaming like a banshee.

Personally i can't see why Lucy asked for this thread to be removed, the fact is Graham you are being very honest, and echoing what a number of other forum members think too!
Lucy Luv, if it bothers you so much, do us all a favour and change your presenting style for the better.

Lucy - please can I ask that instead of feeling insulted by this thread that you read the comments. You'll know that there have been similar threads in the past and all have criticised you for shouting. When you present in a calm fashion, I enjoy watching you. However, when you get excited your presenting skills suffer and it becomes unwatchable. People don't like to be shouted at. It's a turn off.

Unfortunately this is becoming a habit with presenters (not just you) and is a real turn off. I was watching Rocks and Co yesterday (for a bit of torture) and they had a presenter literally yelling and screeching. What it makes customers do is turn over.

Please just tone it down a bit - that's all that's needed.

Perhaps you could ask the new used car salesman (no idea what his name is) to do the same? He also needs to know that gems customers don't like being flogged to! Presenting in an informative manner without waving, yelling and trying to force sell is what's needed.

Good grief!! Do we assume then that she made a complaint to her Management and they then asked for the thread to be removed?? How ridiculous.....just because she/they didn't like some adverse but highly relevant comments. I find this woman impossible to watch because she could actually give me a headache with all that screeching and I certainly couldn't watch her long enough to get interested in buying anything. My advice to Lucy is to stop being so petulant and do yourself and us a favour by toning it down and then you won't need to throw another hissy fit over any more threads like this. :pPC:

I have to agree with the above comments re the over exuberant and loud presenting styles. These folks should remember that facial expressions, hand waving and loud voices are greatly exaggerated on television. They may be able to see themselves on their monitor but if only they could hear themselves as well................

They should take note of how the best actors perform on film/TV, a little bit of subtlety goes a long way!
And please new gentleman presenter on last night, stop shouting the price of items in QUIDS and when did £21.99 become twenty quid? It lowers the whole tone imho. :smirk:

If Lucy, (and there are others on gemstv that shout and scream too) feels so aggrieved at this forum, why does she not join in, and put her own personal opinion(s) and thoughts across to the forum??

I note Derek always replies to postings, on the TJC forum - and even Matt has on Rocks Tv; I have noticed across the ST.Com forums sites, that most postings do actually get a reply from either a member or the company in person. But, and it is a big BUT!!! no one from Gems has ever in the time that i have been posting on this forum site (and thats from march 2009)has ever posted a reply to any comments; and its not as if all our comments here on the gemst forum have ever been rhetorical is it? (Lol) xxxxx:

Thanks for the information Graham and I'm shocked for two reasons. Firstly, that she is such a prima donna that she has the nerve to complain to her Marketing Manager and, secondly, that he contacts Graham to have a thread removed just because one of his presenters doesn't like criticism! It comes with the territory my dear, so get over yourself and perhaps take some advice on board. Or maybe take a look at Liv or Fi, you never see negative threads about them. We don't know you and we are not calling you a nasty person, we just don't appreciate you screeching at us.
