What a welcome release from Jade, Jade and more Jade. Marius is a lovely guest and is a joy to listen to. I adore Amber and have purchased some items that represent animals. I could do without Lindsey telling us buyers congratulations I’m so proud of you. Apart from that enjoying the pieces being showcased this afternoon.

Does anyone know whether or not this is treated Amber ? I thought I spotted some insects within some pieces but actual real examples with an insect captured within are highly sought after and expensive.I would love to know HOW the Amber is treated.

I bought one of the amber pieces from Gem Collector, the photo did show that it had an insect. Yay! I'm picking it up from the post office tomorrow, so I'll get out my loupe and report back. But if there's no insect it's going back.

I saw Mariuz selling more amber with what looked like insect shapes within but those pieces with genuine insects trapped inside are very collectible and certainly not available for under £20/30 which leads me to believe that they're put inside during treatment.I may be wrong and if someone does know I would love to really find out.The jewellery still looks good no matter where the bugs got into it.

I believe Gemporias amber is real but the inclusions are "made". They're very round and flat, almost like the end of a hot knife than actual leaves.
Gemporia has had some beautiful amber pieces in the past.

One piece from Gem Collector cost £70, does contain two very small flies and what looks like a wing of a Lace Wing fly. The other piece, £60, is much larger and contains golden glittery leaves.

The £60 piece is a dark cognac and looks as though it's been chosen to be set as a pendant; whereas the one with bugs, although polished, isn't finished in the same way. I'm happy with both items.

I've bought Amber from Gemporia, Gem Collector and Jewellery Maker in the past - and I've yet to find any with any notable inclusions. It's usually just bubbles of air.

I've got some STUNNING pieces of genuine Amber in the past from elsewhere that have contained inclusions of leaves, insects and / or bugs - and all for really good prices.

I go to quite a few Gem fairs now and you can find some really good gemstones of far higher quality, at better prices, with knowledgeable sellers that either mine themselves, or buy directly from source. Those sellers are, usually, PROPER geologists, minerologists or gemmologists that really know their stuff in depth. Not 'GIA accredited' people / presenters that only know the basics.

The Bakewell Rock Exchange is one of the best in the country.

When it comes to buying online, I buy my loose gemstones from Gem Select ( https://www.gemselect.com ) and MultiColour Gems ( https://www.multicolour.com ) or AJS Gems ( https://www.ajsgem.com ) for rare, pricier stones ( https://www.multicolour.com ).

For fossils such as Amber or 'rough' specimens, etc, I buy them from the likes of Earthly Gems ( https://earthlygems.com ), Mineral Magpie ( https://www.mineralmagpie.co.uk ) and Stone Treasures ( https://www.fossils4sale.co.uk ) and direct from reputable miners or sellers that I've trusted for years, who I know are 100% genuine and only sell the real deal with paperwork to prove 100% authenticity.

Online kosher retailers selling lovely Italian 9ct gold pendants in the £200 - £300 bracket. Insects, structured plants inclusions - do they really force this premium?

The first two don't look as if they are anything particularly special and Lynn was careful to say that you'll get a different one - unless these were all unique, I guess

They're WAY overpriced.

They're not even untreated (they're Heat & Pressure treated I believe) - and, from what I could see, they contained no insects.
