Isn't she that TV psychologist? Yet another minor celeb getting on the skincare bandwagon. Wonder where I can slot this into my routine!

I'm sure this range has been on before? or did I imagine it? It was called 'Psy Derma'.

Don't think it took off, wonder if it is the same range recycled? :wonder:

I'm not sure about a skin care range based on your state of mind though if that is what this range is about.

No you didn't imagine it http://blogs.qvcuk.com/qgossip/2009/03/linda-papadopoulos-on-we-can-affect-the-look-of-our-skin.html

I tried the original Psy Derma try me and it was pleasant enough to use; I've seen it cheap as chips on ebay. I assume it's just been rebranded or repackaged.

A range that is based on your state of mind? Jeez I've heard it all now - well mines would need to be -

'Cannae be a***d going to work' face wash

'Cannae be a***d taking my make up off as I'm too ****** tired' make up remover

'Need to look 10 years younger in the morning as I've got that presentation to give' (miracle) face cream

and the best til last

'OH doing my head in, gone for a long bath' bath foam

Plus she will say how good she looks and its all down to her products, no love, thats yer genes (or surgery if your Lulu!).

If it the very same clinical psychologist I would be interested to know what her peers think as her specialist area in Body Image and Dismorpher :wonder:

Ah now thats very interesting JBM! Now you mention it I have heard her on telly talking about body image etc. Mmm will be interesting to hear her views on the beauty products and image!

Psychotherapy for skin, mmmm sounds interesting. I think it more likely that she's
practicing behavioural therapy on the public and extracting her fee via these beauty
products.
Best wishes from Springflower.

I have heard people who have seen Linda say impressive things about her although I have never been particularly taken with what she says...this range does not help my already not great opinion of her...which is bizarre as I can have little to no self restraint when it comes to beauty and skincare products...

LOL @ ILoveLulu, made me laugh out loud.

Linda Papadopolous is very attractive, she's a good advert for any skincare range. But still, it is a bit odd having a psychologist who I think specialises in body dysmorphia and scarring issues advocating a skin care range.

and the QVC site said: It's designed to boost skin elasticity through firming and plumping and to aid skin metabolism via moisturisation.
Interesting idea that: Firming and plumping through moisturization, I am amazed! lol
However, I am a sucker for all things new so wonder if I will try it?

LP mentions on the link that Sazza has put that what she thought was lacking was a range to address skin health and emotional state. This is just Aromatherapy under another name, it has been used for thousands of years for skin health, emotional well being and including 'anti ageing'.

Her new range is 'designed to address the effects of stress on the skin and help skin look rested, youthful healthy and vibrant no matter what life throws at you.'
http://www.lpskintherapy.com/

I'm sure LP is probably a great psychologist and thinks this is a good idea but skin health is not just about state of mind, yes it doesn't help if you look carp and then you feel like carp but so many things affect the skin: general and physical health, lifestyle, nutrition, exercise, medication, smoking, alcohol, sun exposure, eczema, rosacea, acne, using irritating skin products, working conditions, age, weather, lack of sleep, allergies, hormones, your weight, stress.....the list is endless. Not forgetting shift workers!!

So this would have to be a miracle range to address 'what life throws at you'.

Love Ilovelulu's suggested products..brilliant!....an alternative range along the lines of Soap & Glory....any marketing experts on here?! Lol

To be honest, I reckon that it is the moisturising content of all these anti-aging creams that gives the softer look to lines and firming results rather than some breakthrough technologly, exotic plant or moondust.

As for Lindy, I hope that this venture doesn't dicredit her psychological work as she is well regarded in her area of expertise.

Did anyone here buy LP's Try me today ?

I'm a bit tempted ! But it's difficult without knowing the ingredients.

I did watch this earlier with JF. LP was on about psychodermatology which is basically your state of mind and skin, eg stress can bring about breakouts, psorasis and eczema which in some people does happen..
She said it contains essential oils. orange flower water, vitamins, diamond powder, platinum, matrixyl, hexapeptides...sounding familiar?

I wanted to see an ingredient listing but couldn't find one anywhere. The launch is on QVC with Harrods stocking it from late Spring 2011.

JF said it was a new concept, different and unique...it isn't.

I was surprised by some of the things LP had said and that by using her skin care would help but then she is trying to sell it, disappointing when she is highly regarded in her field.

I couldn't agree more. I only saw the end of her stint with AY and for someome of her level of intelligence she came over a some TV pseudo-psychologist not someome that is a Chartered Psychologist. I also think that is it is misleading for her to use 'Dr' on her products as this suggests that she is either a medical doctor or has a docorate in dematology etc. As for her clinical trails I'd like to see the measures used and statisical anaylsis on that please as it all seemed wishy-washy to me!

I know more about body dysmorphia than I'd like to and I don't see how skincare would've helped me when I was convinced I was the vilest person on earth because I was overweight. Of course having nice skin makes you feel good about yourself but as others have said, someone who is an expert in the field and supposed to help people who have psychological problems should not pretend that solving the problem is as easy as using a different moisturizer!

Having said that, if the products are good, why not use them? But I think it's foolish to flog a skincare range and pretend that it can somehow replace/substitute or even support therapy for a serious issue.

ETA: Also, pet peeve - why 'Dr. Linda'? Too much like Dr Phil to me. Also, I think if you're claiming some sort of miracle pseudo-medical results, shouldn't you at least have some sun protection? De-stressing cream would be fab but I am almost sure if I buy it I'll end up disappointed.

I agree with you, if it suits your skin why not but not for it's claims. There is so much more involved in why the skin does what it does.
Some of the ingredients will have an instant cosmetic effect while others like antioxidants protect long term but these are found in many skin care ranges. The essential oils are based on aromatherapy and there are many ranges including Decleor that are already based on this.

As for feeling good I think most of us probably feel better for putting on our favourite makeup, doing our nails, a favourite perfume to give you a little lift but sometimes doing these things has no effect when you feel the absolute pits and really need professional help.

LP did bring out a range before and this looks the same but re-branded/marketed as I can only assume the first time around was not successful!
